"The hotel was very nice, with included onsen which was a bonus (note there is an extra ¥150/person bathing tax for the onsen on top of the booking fee). The staff was very kind and helpful. I only have 2 minor complaints: 1) the room is VERY dated (but it is still clean and comfortable), and 2) they charged me ¥1000 for parking, but didn’t even take down my license plate or give me a pass or anything, which suggests I could have just parked there for free anyways (since I assume this means they...

"I loved everything! It was so nice and cozy and the staff were very friendly. The onsens were amazing! Very convenient location and walkable everywhere. Definitely recommend! Only thing is that the staff doesn’t speak english too well so they told me the free ramen was at 1030 so I missed it the first night. It says it’s until 10:30pm but they only open for 30 minutes (opens at 9pm and last call is at 930pm) so I don’t think that part is super clear. Besides that everything was amazing! "

"It is only a place to sleep nothing else. It is a little hard to climb stairs and does not suit to people over 50 years old. In Takayama city there are not restaurants to serve breakfast and this property does not provide anything else that good morning and sayonara. "

"Hotel was great and had a large public bath. The bed was especially hard though, and they didnt have cups for the ice machine. A bit of a minus but overall, great stay. I found my time in Hida-Takayama enjoyable. "

"This place was the most authentic experience of Japanese life we’ve encountered. The hotel is run by a lovely couple with limited English but their helpfulness and kindness completely made up for that. The breakfast setting in the traditional Gassho-style dining room is nothing short of spectacular. It made us feel like that scene had been played out exactly like that for the last few hundred years. Our room was a tatami room with paper sliding doors, exactly like you’d imagine Japan to look...

"Charming, very well run traditional Inn with great amenities and features. Great location with valley views and easy access to old town and a short walk to the Hida Village. Laundry facilities are great. Caretaker/owner is wonderful. Definitely eat the traditional meals offered (western and Japanese options), they will be a highlight of your trip!"

"The guest house was clean and the owner courteous. It's a bit far from the main action in town, but it's a very good price."
