"The hotel was your average hotel, some nicer finishings in the room however the lounge area had messy blankets and throw pillows all over. It looked like people were sleeping on them when we arrived. Our room was nice but SO hot. It felt like the sun was in our room, we had to get a fan from the cupboard that looked like it was from the 80’s. It’s the first week of April and our room was that hot I cannot imagine what the summertime is like. As I checked out, I gave the feedback to the front desk and they told me I should’ve asked for an AC unit. Not sure why I would think to ask for an air-conditioning unit during the first week of April. The location is probably the best part of the hotel. It’s in a very prime spot! "

"We were looking for a castle stay in Britain as kind of a "bucket list" item. The Melville isn't exactly a "castle," more of a retired/repurposed palace, but the overall experience was what we were looking for - suits of armor, antique paintings and so on. The restaurant is awesome! Great dishes and service! Staff was very helpful. Rooms mixed ancient decor with modern amenties like ample power outlets, modern bathroom, etc. Grounds have many paths for nature walks. Was a nice experience!"

"The hotel is in a lovely building, but the decor in our room was odd and dated - it needed a bit of tlc and updating in our opinion. Lovely views of the city and beyond. We wish the blinds/curtains had been black out, as it got quite light in the morning. The big light in our room flickered a lot, so we couldn’t use it. Free parking was great. The room was cleaned each day and had basic amenities - kettle with tea and coffee, ironing board and a safe in the wardrobe."

"Lovely return visit to the wonderful Arniston Estate. Chestnut cottage is a lovely cozy and comfortable cottage in wonderful surroundings. Felt like a home. Good location for days out not that you ever need to leave the grounds! We will be back!"

"The cottage was located in a lovely country setting and was very well appointed. The host is very close by and responsive. A guide provided information on all of the local amenities needed. Our stay was cut short by a day due to airline delays, so we were unable to explore the property as we had hoped. Very quiet and quaint. The stairs up to the sleeping quarters and only bathroom were not ideal for my 76yo mom, but we managed to minimize her trips."

"Fantastic 2nd honeymoon dinner in the Dungeon!!!! Took a great hike around the property the next day, with a visit to the falcon habitat. The Falcon caretaker was very friendly and knowledgeable. Having never seen a falcon up close, it was a real unexpected treat."

"Room is clean and well kept but keetle has some instant noodle lett by previous person, other wise everything is good "

"The property does not have the amenities advertised. There’s no AC (cooling) or dryer for cloths. They do not provide soap, enough towels or enough toilet paper."
