"My name is Dr. Sophia Sunshine Vilceus, and I am writing to formally document an incident of discrimination and improper denial of accommodation that occurred when I attempted to check in to a fully paid reservation made through Expedia on April 3, 2026, at the Old City Marriott in Philadelphia. Despite having a confirmed and fully paid reservation, I was refused check-in upon arrival. During this interaction, Brielle, in the presence of Maria at the front desk and another male front desk employee, verbally agreed that I would receive a full refund for the reservation. However, management has since refused to honor this agreement, leaving me responsible for a charge for services that were never provided. Since February 2026, I have stayed at the Old City Marriott several times due to a series of significant medical and mental health complications, all of which are documented in a GoFundMe campaign that I can provide for reference. In mid-February, I was sexually assaulted in my home, which precipitated a severe mental health crisis. In early March, while staying at the Old City Marriott, I experienced a manic episode related to that trauma. During that stay, I was transported by ambulance from the hotel to the Emergency Department at the University of Pennsylvania. When I arrived to check in on April 3, 2026, I was treated in an unexpectedly hostile and accusatory manner. Brielle immediately approached the interaction as though I had engaged in wrongdoing. "

"Bathroom walls need washed badly, they are streaked with various colors of dirt. A used towel was left in our bathroom and a bra was left in our room upon arrival. Phone in room didn’t work, had to use my cell phone to speak with staff. "

"My room was so dirty the sitting chair dirty I was not comfortable. The carpet was dirty. It has so much hair. You can’t even walk with socks on., the room that I was in was not properly clean I wasn’t able to sleep overnight. I felt very itchy and I had to set up on the bed cause I was scared that something was biting me and we couldn’t even sit on the lounge blue chair they had.. I had a rough night over day. I didn’t have no soap to wash my hands inside of the bathroom. The coffee meat wasn’t working. It was broken the part where you put the coffee in. It had no slot to put the coffee pouch.. the table with a lounge chair wise. It was so dirty like I haven’t been clean dusty. I left early the next day. I didn’t stay to 11 o’clock. Because I couldn’t handle sleep, there was no way to get comfortable for me and my son."

"This hotel was essentially a spring break destination for students. Got woken up at 8AM with sound of construction on the floor above us. Staff insisted that it was 5 floors above- essentially gaslighting us. No different accommodation was offered. Ended up checking-out earlier. Terrible experience. "

"We had a great experience at Club Quarters. The room was small, but it had everything we needed and was comfortable. There were plenty of hangers. The bathroom was great. One of the best parts is the lobby, with a lovely skylight overseeing comfortable chairs. There's free coffee, tea, and seltzer, and on a rainy afternoon, we hung out here for a while. The staff were welcoming and helpful. I wished for a grab bar in the shower and another trash can in the room, but other than that, we were satisfied and are planning to return. "

"We had a great time in Philly. The location is walkable to major attractions, and it truly felt like home with amenities like a washer/dryer and a fully equipped kitchen. The key lockbox presented an Escape Room experience during check-in, taking a bit of time to get it open, but check-out was smooth. There are so many great options nearby—breakfast spots, juice bars, grocery stores, and happy hour bars and restaurants. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and wished we could stay longer."
