"A good budget hotel but there were a few issues. The shower didn’t clear properly, the room was cold (despite raising the temperature to 30c) and I was woken up by the fire alarm early on a Sunday (because someone had burned their toast in the breakfast room)."

"I've been staying here for over 3 years. I think my first stay was not long after a renovation so everything was lovely. Recently though it's gone downhill fast. There are "guests" there now who are smoking weed freely inside and outside. The rooms are getting very tired. Plumbing blocked on my last visit. The pub and restaurant are still great, the staff are great but clearly frustrated with certain "guests". There's not a great deal of choice in Wakefield so this remains a good choice for now, but given the decline I wonder for how much longer...?"

"Disappointing one night stop over. Its more of a business traveller, conference & private events venue than a country house hotel. Suite 15 is directly opposite the kitchen extractor fan which is on from before 5.00am until the kitchen closes at night & can easily be heard in the room. The room only had one bedside table & lamp, the glazed entrance is fitted with opaque glass & is the only window so there is no view. If you could see out you would be looking at the car park. The tv is old & has no internet connectivity. Drinks making facility was from the 1980's. The bathroom by contrast was excellent. You would never know all this from their property description & photographs. We asked to move but the only room available apparently, 28 I think, was a small double which was very dull & in need of updating. The restaurant is a fake pub where you are expected to order at the bar. Breakfast was good but the burger the night before was poor quality. There are no comfortable sitting rooms just function rooms. If you want to host an event here then maybe it works. If youre travelling for leisure I'd find somewhere else."

"The room was clean & the kitchen was good for a short stay.Must say the property is very well located. The staff is excellent & they stored my luggage for a couple of hours,after check out,free of cost.Many thanks for that! However,I found the stairs extremely dirty and that was a put off!"

"Despite having a gym spa facility, if you don’t book direct they ask you to pay for them and request in future to go direct to get them included. Generally disappointed as I picked this hotel so I could access those facilities without paying £20 a day. Despite this the room was clean, tidy and what you would expect. Staff were also friendly so it’s a shame on this point as I’ll find somewhere else to stay in future"
