A couple of small things: 1- It would have been nice to know there was a flight of narrow stairs to get to room, 2- Bathroom sink is blocked by overhanging cabinets, toothbrushing very difficult, 3- bathroom door drifts open against the bed unless closed and then the bathroom is very hot. We just couldn't resist taking a pic of these beautiful ladies enjoying their soft serve ice cream on an unusually warm July day in Liverpool. I'm sure each lick of that yummy ice cream took them back to the carefree days of their youth. It certainly did that for us! #delicious

"This was my second stay at this hotel. I came back because I really liked it the first time, although it has changed hands since then. On arrival, our rooms were ready. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our baggage was safely left in the luggage room on the day of our departure, which made it so much easier on our last day. It was even brought to our table when we decided on a last-minute drink in the bar before heading to the station. If I had any gripe at all, it was in-room information. But this seems to be the same in most hotels these days. I miss having a menu, opening times, local sights etc in a booklet or folder. So convenient for the train station. Be aware that there is a door right next to the station. The first time I went, I walked all the way around the building to the front entrance! Would definitely stay here again."

Great stay

"Great hotel, so close to the station. Realy lovely, friendly staff - nothiung seemed too much trouble The breakfast choice was one fo the best we have had in a hotel in a long time - fab to see things like bircher museli on te menu. The staff work incredibly hard, ansd it was much appreciated by us. Hope to return once your spa has been refurbished"

"Went direct to the hotel from Thirsk, and arrived at 10.30 am. The receptionist was very polite and let us store our cases until we could check in at 3pm. Easy check-in, and had a river facing room on the third floor. Beautiful room, and great bathroom ( the shower was a drencher but there was a shower cap) and lovely view. Blackout curtains and spacious with enough coat hangers for our stay. This is the second time we have stopped and may be tempted to make it a regular yearly hotel as everywhere was exceptionally clean, with a nice smell. Central enough for walking from the train station and close to the town centre."

Excellent location & food, charming atmosphere

"AMAZING location in a historic inn, cute views from my 4th-floor room (naturally no elevator, so keep that in mind). The food and drinks were top-notch, and it's only a short walk to York Minster and the art gallery, Yorkshire Museum, Museum Gardens, etc. I will definitely stay here again! "

"Don't drive, arrive by train and everything can be walked from here. Vibrant city centre location so can be noisy at night. Room standards vary from the amazing to the basic so worth paying more. 4* as we got a basic room night 1 but then they moved us to amazing room! Food and staff were really 5*."
