"Comfortable and stylish hotel in an excellent location near the Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells. Breakfast was very good although it took time to find a member of staff to take our order when we arrived at 7.30am. "
"The hotel is on the main street accessed via a side alley with steps and parking is available across the road.
A warm welcome on arrival.
We had room 20 which was spacious and had a view onto the bustling Pantiles street area of TW.
If you are like us a couple staying overnight for a nice dinner and a few drinks, this is actually a perfect place to stay.
On the Sunday morning because we were up early, we decided to have breakfast at the hotel which is à la carte and I must say the coffee was of an excellent standard, akin with Black Sheep, so well done on that front. My partner’s sausage on sourdough was lovely and I had a light Toast/preserves which was also lovely.
Service was understated but good.
No air con but the fan was surprisingly effective.
Enjoyed the stay. "
Rural Retreat with glorious views, I hour from London. 4* Gold Visit England
10/10 Excellent
"We spent one month in this beautiful and comfortable cottage. The views from the cottage are spectacular! We saw dear in the fields almost every evening. Truly delightful. Giny and Andrew, the owners, are extremely helpful and are so warm and wonderful. The location is near to tons of National Trust properties. We highly recommend this outstanding retreat! 5 Stars!!!! "
"I stayed two night's at the Russell Hotel. Absolutely no complaints, staff were approachable, friendly and helpful. Clean and comfortable accommodation. The building itself is old and quaint, within easy walking distance from the town centre.
My room was at the very top of the building, my stay was during a heatwave, the hotel doesn't have aircon so the room was very hot, so sleep was difficult. I asked for a fan, but it had already been given to another guest. So perhaps the owners could consider buying a couple more fans?"
"Our stay at the Mount Edgcumbe was genuinely exceptional. My wife wasn’t feeling well during our visit, and the manager and staff showed such warmth and care — nothing was ever too much trouble. Their kindness and attentiveness really stood out and made us feel completely looked after.
The room was beautifully appointed, with everything we could need, and the bed was especially comfortable. We also appreciated how easy it was to come and go thanks to the private entrance — such a thoughtful touch that added to the overall convenience.
The dining room is simply lovely, with a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere, and the food was consistently very good — clearly prepared with care and attention to detail. From start to finish, it was a welcoming experience that far exceeded our expectations."
"Lovely staff, great food. Mattress in Apache had some hard springs. Good value for money with breakfast included. Evening staff were really good with us even though we arrived late, thanks guys. "
Pet friendly country barn and forest retreat with a private hot tub
10/10 Excellent
"Beautiful barn had all we needed for a wonderful, relaxed stay. Only fault was the garden was quite grubby; the table and chairs hadn't been cleaned from the previous people, as there was still an ashtray full of cigarette ends on the table. I had to wipe down the chairs by the hot tub before we could sit down and enjoy our evening. Only a minor fault, but I feel like the outside should be as clean as the inside. Don't let this deter you from staying here; we had a great time and really enjoyed the hot tub."
