We loved our stay at Larnach Lodge! Brendan and Jo are the epitome of hospitality. The view from our room was breath taking. The cooked to order breakfast was also a great start to the day. This is a must stay if you are wanting to stay on the Otago peninsula!
The Larnach Castle Lodge is just behind the main castle. The Lodge rooms have beautiful views over the Otaga Peninsula and coast. And Larnach Castle and its grounds are fantastic, and available free of charge for Lodge guests.
A beautiful location. The room was large and comfortable and the bathroom was also big and warm. We had a delicious meal in the dining room. My only complaint is that the staff member serving us wine had not idea about wine and could not guide us at all.
What an amazing place to stay. Larnarch Castle is beautiful all around. If you have a chance to stay there he night- you’ll mainly have the grounds to yourself when all the tourist have left. The dinner inside the castle and the breakfast inside the old horse stable were a nice treat. Loved our stay and the views are incredible.

We stayed in the Lodge and were pleased with our room and the view was unbelievable ! We toured the gardens and castle and both are very nice. Top marks !
Room was older/ a little tired looking and the wardrobe was creepy!
Nice view of the gardens.
Great breakfast with lots of options. Friendly staff. Beautiful flower gardens.
Loved our stay here in the converted stable.
We didn't intend to attend the evening dinner, so glad we did, had a great time with 20 other guests.
Would recommend this to anyone.
A high class property. Rooms comfortable.
A long way from town so we had the four course meal ant the castle Expensive but a good experience.
Castle tour and breakfast included in the price.
wonderful peaceful location and lovely views from our room. convenient for trips to beaches and albatross watching at the end of the peninsula. Walk through lovely gardens for dinner in the castle each evening.

Unexpected Surprise
The environment was very pleasant and the castle was lovely. However, what we didn't realize was that we had to share showers and bathrooms with up to 7 other units, so that meant leaving the room at night to go to the restroom, and taking a shower and rushing back to your room; overall very unpleasant.
Spent one wonderful night at Larnach Lodge while in Dunedin. While it’s a little far from town it makes up for it with its unique and picturesque setting. The room had a historic feel but also modernly equipped. Breakfast was delicious and being able to tour the castle afterwards before the public entered was a bonus.
