It's very small, but surprisingly full of necessary amenities and stores. The dock/waterfront areas are very well-maintained. You will have to get accustomed to the round-the-clock harbor fog horn.

Crescent city was a small town with lots of motels and some options for eating. Several restaurants we tried were not open past 630 or 7 PM, though. We were there for Fourth of July and they have a nice fireworks display at the beach.

Jump-off to the Redwoods is the primary reason to be here. The town looks a bit run-down, but there are some up and coming restaurants that showed some hope.
"Great stay and staff. Very clean and plenty of breakfast options including eggs. We were overlooking the lobby in room 214 right next to the elevator so I was a little concerned, however we slept great. Occasional foot traffic, voice noise when folks were moving about, and low hum of elevator. We will definitely make this our stopover again driving up and down the coast."
