Whales view, beach house on Cliff Villamarunga

Luxurious, dream-like and one-of-a-kind enclave on the Nicoya peninsula with spectacular ocean views inside of the Tango Mar Resort. Its location stands out due to its existence being one of the few houses in Costa Rica that resides on a cliff near the ocean. The view from the house allows you to enjoy Quetzal Beach and the entire Nicoya peninsula. During certain seasons, whales and turtles can be seen as well as luminescent shorelines.

It’s an exclusive and newly remodeled living space, which offers a comfortable design and excellent usage of all of its services.

The villa has two floors, five bedrooms and five bath-rooms, four of them en suite. There are also several living spaces of luminous and intimate design distributed throughout the house. Your trip will be a unique experience!

On the first floor, the living room will become the perfect area to enjoy unforgettable moments with family and friends while simultaneously taking in the spectacular ocean views, thanks to the wide windows that can be fully opened to allow the ocean breeze to come in.
Connected to the living room, you’ll find a fully-furnished, large porch area that will allow you to feel connected with the sea and the nature that surrounds it.

There are also two bedrooms and two bathrooms with amazing garden views of the property. A large fully-equipped kitchen that comes with views of the ocean will make the delicacies of the cooks even more flawless.

The dining area is extremely bright and is the perfect area to enjoy the sea food of the areas neighboring the property with company and excellent views.

The second floor comes with three luminous rooms, all with their own en suite bathroom. They are all connected to a large terrace area in which you can enjoy one of the most privileged sights of Costa Rica.

The villa comes with a beautiful garden, swimming pool, hammocks, and chill-out zone with an incorporated barbeque directly facing the sea.

The beach is just five minutes away from the house. A nice walk going over a hanging-bridge surrounded by nature.

The Wi-Fi and cable television come included, as well as many amenities and activities that will make your stay enjoyable and unforgettable.

Beautiful beach time

This house will take your breath away! It is in a beautiful location adjacent to a picturesque beach which will take your breath away. The host was very helpful and responsive. We loved our time here!

Beautiful property. Big bedrooms, clean bathrooms, spectaculer views. No hot tub. The kitchen could have been cleaner (moldy cutting boards, dirty drawers and only four coffee cups)Location was good. 5 minute walk to the beach. The property manager was very attentive.

Wonderful vacation and unbelievable chef!

Our group of 2 families of 4 stayed here last week. The property is beautiful and well organized for a large family or large group. Everything is designed to amplify the beautiful ocean view. The air conditioning makes the rooms nice and cool to sleep and the beach is just a pretty 5 minute walk away with additional amenities available at the Tango Mar resort associated with the property. BUT for us the best part was the staff and chef. Leo is the property manager and after reading other reviews about hiring a cook, we asked Leo to arrange a cook for most of our meals for the week. Heling was amazing! The food was delicious - everything from fish, shrimp, beef tenderloin to lasagna. The cooking and shopping was done and we could enjoy our vacation. Thank you all for a wonderful stay!

I didn't want to leave!

OMG, what a perfect place with an unbelievably nice and helpful property manager, Jimena. The home was perfect for a family trip with a couple and three teens! We had extra room for more guests! The view from the master suite off of the deck were literally unreal. I pinched myself every morning and evening. Everything you needed was on the property and if there was a question or recommendation, Jimena was quick to respond. Every rec was spot on. My favorite was our snorkeling and trip to Isla Tortuga. She hooked us up with an amazing local man named Chema. I highly recommend this home and am really hoping to make it back. SOON!!

Villamarunga equals paradise

We stayed with two other couples and couldn’t have enjoyed the property more! The cliff views and ocean views from the pools were amazing. You can lay in bed and look at the ocean from the three ocean facing rooms on the second floor. We really didn’t want to leave the property! Exploring from there was easy though. We had access to the restaurant and spa at the resort across the rope bridge. Supermarket was about 20mins from the property and had most anything you needed. We had very attentive service from Jenny, sharing local food with us and helping with our Spanish not to mention all of the things she normally does!! The grounds and pool were kept up nicely. We couldn’t have asked for a better location. It was quite the drive from the Liberia Airport but it had amazing views and we got to explore so much of the country! I would definitely recommend this property.

Beautiful location and property; Jeny is awesome

We were very pleased with our stay at Villa Marunga. The home and property are beautiful, and Costa Rica is a great place to visit. Having Jeny there to make breakfast for us was amazing. She did an excellent job of creating a wonderful breakfast with whatever we had available, and she is a lovely person. Communication with the management was great, and they provided nice recommendations for things to do and places to eat. A couple notes about the property: - the wifi was very spotty; I mention this only in case you need to do any sort of work or other projects that require good, consistent internet. That being said, we were able to consistently get decent 4LTE cell service in the upstairs bedroom that is to the left if facing the house from the front (first bedroom to right at top of spiral stairs), and it was sufficient to support FaceTime and Teams-type calls - the road into the house is about a mile long and is not paved, so it is pretty rough in spots; I only mention this to ensure you have a vehicle that can handle it (does not need to be 4-wheel drive though) Overall, it is a great place to stay and a place we will definitely revisit if coming to this part of CR again.

Beautiful stay in an amazing property

This is one heck of a property. The view from the cliff is utterly astounding and I found myself awake every morning at 545 am to see the sunrise and we could also watch the sunset from the lookout. The pool temp was perfect since it is HOT. The grounds were well kept. Being able to walk 5 minutes to the Tango Mar hotel for dinner or out onto a pristine beach with tide pools and fun wave jumping with the kids was amazing. There were Macaws that hung out in the tree above us in the pool and we were close enough to do bioluminescence bay and Curu refuge where we saw Capuchins. There were very few drawbacks to this property. The helper person is there to clean in the morning but does not prepare breakfast which was a misinterpretation we had of other reviews. They offer a chef, but you have to provide the food, which makes it not so enticing. Also, they tack on a fee/per/person after 4 people which I found annoying, but did not deter us from staying at the property. Overall, we had an amazing time!

Gem in the Nicoya Peninsula

We stayed 9 nights and it is a special place. The views are unmatched as it's perched atop a high cliff and overlooks the ocean. The staff at the house is also world class and became our friends, helping with anything that arose. The house manager, Jeni, even cooked us some special Tico foods that were scrumptious. We were well cared for and the house is so perfect for 5 separate bedrooms and bathrooms when you have a large group. We had 10 total people and the house offered us multiple spots to hang out and dine at home. We enjoyed watching 2 scarlet macaws nesting in a palm in front garden each day. Grocery within 15 minutes, but otherwise pretty remote. A few things that could be improved are as follows: there is no central air conditioning in the main living spaces of the home (although the home is best utilized when the 'glass wall' between the living space and the pool/ocean view is wide open)! We understand WHY AC is not suited for the home, but nonethless, the listing made us think the entire house was air conditioned. The bedrooms are - though when we arrived, we had to spend one terribly sweltering night as one AC was broken. It was quickly fixed the following day. Also, the sofa in the main living space of the house could use a refresh. The beach needs trash pick up badly, and the Tango Mar resort also is a bit rundown. We stayed in our villa mostly when we weren't adventuring. Overall, a beautiful place if you're near Tambor.

Breathtaking Views and Amazing Accommodations

This house sets the bar for all other vacations from now on. From the howler monkeys right outside our door, to the gorgeous pool and amazing ocean views, it just can't be beat. The owners were super easy to work with, and Jenny and Leo were onsite to make things perfect.

Nothing Short of Amazing!

We will probably never stay commercial again. This is a beautiful house that overlooks the ocean. It is off the beaten path for sure, but well worth it. We missed the first ferry so had to wait a bit, but trust me it's worth it. We were greeted by Leo, who called and ordered pizza for us and then showed us the house. It was the best night sleep I have ever had! The next morning Jenny was there and made us an authentic Costa Rican breakfast. I didn't touch a dish and with nine of us this is just what I needed. She cleaned daily and was so friendly. Leo set up all our events with friendly, honest people. We did Tortuga Island and lunch. We also went on two ATV excursions. One to the waterfalls. It was fun for all of us 17 to 47. Jimenea, the owner, set up Covid tests ( needed to re-enter the US) at the house. Prior to and during the stay she and Leo instantly answered in WhatsApp. Looking to go to Costa Rica? You won't beat this experience! People on the plane back were talking about their hotel stays, which they thought were great, but we all felt sorry for them!

Beautiful Escape

We came to Villamarunga with 2 other couples. Our first time to visit Costa Rica. The house itself is wonderful and so relaxing and the views are so incredible!! We had such an incredible week! Javier and Jimena were excellent hosts and offered so much information and helped with all questions we had. They were a joy to work with. Jeny was a wonderful bonus as she fixed a delicious breakfast daily and kept the house tidy. It truly was a beautiful escape and refreshing time away!

Beautiful Beach House

We arrived at the property and were met by Leo who welcomed us and told us needed information about the property. Everything was just as described and the house is very nice! We all enjoyed the pool, beautiful rooms and view of the ocean. We loved that the house is right next to Tango Mar Resort since we were able to walk there and get dinner or drinks by the pool. The owners of this house are extremely helpful and go out of their way to make it a very pleasant experience.

We had a great time at the property, beautiful view and the pool was awesome. Leo and Jenny were great! Just a minor recommendation to the property management, the kitchen amenities (dishes, appliances etc.) should be upgraded.

Perfect

We stayed at this beach house for a week with our adult children and their plus ones. It was so beautiful! The views are amazing and the house was perfect. Jennie kept it so clean and fixed us breakfast every morning. Leo set up our excursions and showed us a fantastic restaurant for dinner with a sunset view. I would come back in a heartbeat!

We highly recommend this property as the perfect family getaway if you want to escape busy tourist traps and experience authentic Costa Rican culture while having luxurious accommodations. It was the perfect location set on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The sunsets are spectacular! The location is the perfect blend of private relaxation and short drives to Montezuma for guided tours. The walk to the beach at the Tango Mar resort over a hanging bridge was delightful. Leo was friendly and knowledgeable and Jenny was so helpful with breakfast, laundry and cleaning! The home is well furnished with plenty of room for everyone and the pool was clean and inviting. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Pristine location and amazing ocean view combined with great decoration. Highly recommended!

I would rate Villa Marunga with 6 starts in every category if that was possible. The house is simply gorgeous, meticulously decorated with great taste, is very well maintained and has the most amazing view (the pictures are very accurate). The owners and the property manager are very responsive and they went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. Special thanks to Jenny who is a lovely lady that takes daily care of the house and who was also so kind to help us with breakfast and laundry. Villa Marunga sets a new (and higher) standard for luxury stay and I would certainly come back.

A slice of heaven on earth

The house was impeccable and well appointed. The furnishings were all new and it was so so clean. We were able to relax and enjoy the beautiful vistas from a birds eye view of the beach. Easy walk to the beach and parrots flying overhead. What an incredible stay.

Beautiful Property

We had an amazing time here. It was everything we expected and the view is spectacular. Yenny the housekeepers was amazing as well as Kris the Chef the Javier provided. Would definitely stay here again if/when we are back in Costa Rica. Super close to grocery store, entertainment and adventure.

Incredible Views

We booked it last second, they were very accommodating. Property pictures were accurate. Everything is as described with truly amazing views. It was just my wife and myself, but the house has room for many more. Pool is large, and the house has more than enough windows to enjoy the sound and breeze of the ocean!
