"My husband and I stayed in this charming, well outfitted cottage for three nights in April. Initially we found this VRBO to enable us to hike the Chiricahua Mountains- but we found ourselves loving this place beyond imagining. Anything you might need is here! We were even provided with a dozen eggs to complement our menu during our stay. The bed is exceedingly comfortable. The windows bring in plenty of sunshine. There is plenty to see on the premises; friendly cattle, history to peruse, and the owners couldn't be more hospitable. We found ourselves wishing we had booked for a longer stay. If we return to this region- we will definitely stay here! "

"We were looking for a place that put us close to Cave Creek for birding and a place that would allow for stargazing. This was perfect. In 20 minutes we could drive to the Cave Creek area for some incredible birding options. I was surprised to see over 25 species from the deck of this house in less than 3 hours of birding over three evenings as we sat on the deck in the shade and the sun behind us making for great photos! We also caught a meteor shower which was impressive. The home was very comfortable and had everything we needed to prepare our own meals. The host was very easy to reach as we planned our trip and checked in and out."

"We were three women who visited the area for birdwatching. The property provided us with an excellent place to stay---with three bedrooms and more space than we really needed. One of the women especially liked walking around the property and viewing birds while doing so. Wish we had booked a longer stay."

"The hosts Rob and Sharon were fantastic and greeted us warmly. They’d offered to take care of anything if we needed it but the property was well furnished, well stocked, and had everything we needed to relax. If you’re looking for a place to get away, enjoy quiet, and watch the stars then this is an excellent choice. Just be sure you’re planning to drive as you’re truly away from it all!"

"This was our second visit to the Painted Pony and it was again a delight for everyone from the four-year old, through the tweens and teens, my grown and married children, and for Grandma and Grandpa. Lots of space, lots of fun things to do (swimming, sauna, basketball, pool, ping pong, etc. It is in the middle of nowhere, which we LOVED! Close to the Chiricahua Mts with great easy and hard hikes. The hosts were very responsive also."
