"⭐⭐⭐⭐ I stayed at Market Street Hotel for two nights and overall had a good experience. The location is excellent — very convenient and within easy walking distance of many of Edinburgh’s main attractions, restaurants, and transportation. The room was comfortable, although it wasn’t particularly large, so I wouldn’t expect a very spacious room. One thing I found inconvenient was the luggage space. For two people, there was only one luggage rack where you could open a suitcase, so it was difficult to have two suitcases open at the same time. Another unusual issue was the height of the toilet. It was noticeably higher than a standard toilet, and for someone of average height, your feet may not comfortably reach the floor when sitting down. This was quite uncomfortable and honestly not something I’ve experienced at other hotels. Overall, the location is excellent, and this hotel is a good option if being centrally located is a priority."

"Close to everything. About 20 minute walk from Castle. Pubs everywhere but no noise in our room. Good Laundry facility, had to go upstairs for pods but that was ok. Wi-Fi was awful! Kept kicking me off and only had minimum service at best. Shower had fold out shield but it didn’t seal against tub so leaked all over the floor if you weren’t very careful which probably caused the moldy grout on that. Good location, nice staff, everything else was clean. Bed was hard for me but my husband liked it. Had elevator but there were still a four or five steps that had to be climbed with luggage, to get to our room. Just an FYI as not all rooms on our floor had to go up steps."

"The hotel was lovely, the location was excellent. We had a view of the castle out of our window! We used the pool and it was clean and a nice temperature. The only issue we had was the heat. The hotel was incredibly hot, the windows were not easy to open and didnt open more than a couple of cms. I believe this is a wider issue around the UK not just at this hotel but thats why I rated 4/5"

"The hotel is in a prime location to access the old city. Just be forewarned that it is on the main bus route for Edinburgh, so there's a constant parade of buses moving to and from the center of the city. There's a playhouse next door so you may get noise-ness after a show. Our only frustration with the room was the bathroom. The shower pressure was quite low. There is no overhead shower. One of the towel rack holders was busted. I would not hold our towel. Also the sink is very small."

"This is a very (relatively) affordable place to stay. I did a social dinner that was fun. Sleeping in the big rooms in a pod was OK once I had the earplugs in, but since one must be quiet there is a vibe of "don't talk to me!" throughout the facility. Outside of the sleeping room, it is a youth hostel and has the energy and music that goes with that. The staff were great."
