"Sadly I had a terrible experience at the Station Hostel. I booked 3 months in advance for a private room for a 2 night midweek stay during my trip to Germany. The location is absolutely fantastic, just minutes from the main station. Check in was friendly and efficient and I was pleasantly surprised when I got to my room. "This is a gem of a hostel, you can't go wrong. We had a 6 bed room to ourselves and, while initially looking a little on the cramped side, it was no bother at all as we mainly spent our time out and about. Spotlessly clean, great en suite shower, firm mattresses (which I thought were great, but guess that's down to personal preference!) The hostel is a 25 min walk from the centre of Cologne (Dom & railway station etc) and located a few mins walk from the buzzing Belgian Quarter, but still...

"TERRIBLE ATTENTION! NO RESPECT! The place was ok. The bathroom is shared with the other room on the floor and is outside the room. I never received the e-mail with the instructions about the keys and how to get inside the building. I waited outside in the cold and the man who answered the call (He never showed. There's no reception) repeated over and over that I should read that e-mail with the instructions. First he told me he didn't speak English, so he only spoke German. I called him again...
