Malmaison Birmingham
Hotels.com offered an upgrade to a suite which I accepted and was confirmed in writing. Upon check-in was told that Hotels.com frequently do this even if the property is fully booked. Very disappointing. Room was ok. Quiet. Awful smell emanating from the toilet though.

All the staff were excellent- hard-working, helpful and cheerful. We attended a concert at Symphony Hall so the hotel was ideally placed. Our room was clean, spacious with a walk-in shower.
