"Very helpful and friendly staff, rooms comfortable although lack of aircon in summer meant the room was hot. Courtyard area outside the rooms is great for drinks. There are a couple of pubs within walking distance but the town is an uphill 30 minute walk. "

"Fab place. I’ve stayed a few times and it’s always good quality. Staff went above and beyond this visit. Gym was excellent with good quality air con. My room was nice & comfy. I did 3 classes during my stay, all classes were of high quality. I had an evening meal & breakfast, again good quality. I sat out on the veranda overlooking the golf course. I also used the sauna during my visit which was one of the hottest I’ve been in! Top notch! Well done The Essex"

"The hotel is fine, but lots of work going on in the original bus station.. The only negative was mattress was too soft, and only felt firm because of the wood base. Hot breakfast limited if you don't/can't eat pork sausages and bacon "
