The Cricketers

10/10 Excellent

"5*."

15th Century Period Cottage In Saffron Walden, Essex England

10/10 Excellent

"Very clean. There was plenty of useful equipment etc. so when we arrived we had what we needed initially. It couldn’t be more convenient for town - the centre is a very short walk away. It has a wonderful view of St Mary’s Church as you go through a little passageway nearby. The beds are really comfortable and the bathroom is good for a nice relaxing soak. The house has a cosy and comfortable feel and you also get a sense of its history. We have stayed there twice and will likely return again."

Clavering Hall

10/10 Excellent

"A brilliant property perfect for our group of 13 friends for a long weekend in the sunshine! We enjoyed the ample living space and comfy beds and lovely outdoor space. The house is generally very well equipped, but strangely only one tea towel and no oven gloves are provided (we questioned this but apparently that’s what they provide), so if you’re planning on cooking at the property do bring your own! Tea towels/oven gloves would be an easy fix making the kitchen much more usable! One thing I imagine you’re aware of already, but there is a wasp nest in the outside wall of the bathroom at the top of the main stairs, if the window was open wasps would fly in which wasn’t ideal, so might want to sort that!"

The Cricketers Arms

8/10 Good

"Excellent Breakfast - continental and cooked. Rooms are quaint - Wooden beams and low ceilings in places, and floors have unevenness of old floors. Staircases are steep and narrow. Rooms have plenty of space. Our room had a bath and shower attachment but other rooms have shower so one might need to ask if you have a preference. Very helpful staff. Dinner was good but a little pricey (maybe that was par for the area?). Outside area was beautiful - on the cricket green. Lots of parking space and taxis can give transfer to airport if required."

Miller Cottage - A gorgeous historic cottage in the centre of the picturesque Medieval town of Saffr

10/10 Excellent

"We had a wonderful stay at the beautiful Miller Cottage. It was perfectly equipped and perfectly located to make our stay so enjoyable. Helen and Alex have thought of everything and we even got a lovely hamper on arrival. Thank you for letting us stay in your cottage- we will be back! "
