Step back in time and experience the charm of your very own castle, complete with modern comforts. Originally built around AD 1250 as a fortified village refuge, this stunning Grade II* listed tower has been carefully restored to offer an unforgettable holiday experience. Nestled in the heart of Whittingham Vale, the tower seamlessly blends medieval history with modern luxury. Inside, you’ll find the main living room features a grand carved stone fireplace, a log-burning stove (starter basket of logs provided), and elegant furnishings, including a classic Bergere suite and a leather Chesterfield. A beautifully restored Grandfather clock adds to the ambiance. For entertainment, descend into the vaulted basement to enjoy a full-sized snooker table. There is a fully equipped contemporary kitchen with a wine fridge, fridge freezer, induction hob, Miele double oven, microwave, washer/dryer and plate-warming ovens. The bedrooms, located on the second floor, include a luxurious four-poster super king bed in the master suite (with an ensuite and dressing room), a flexible twin/super king room, and a cosy double. A family bathroom with a high-pressure shower and a double-ended slipper bath completes the space.

Step outside to a charming terrace, gravelled parking area, and two lawns leading towards the tranquil River Aln. There’s also a hose for muddy boots and mountain bikes, plus fire pit and table and chairs for alfresco dining when the sun shines. Perfectly positioned just 8 miles from Alnwick, this tower is an excellent base for exploring one of England’s most captivating regions. Visit the famous Alnwick Castle, best known as the backdrop for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films, and wander through the breathtaking Alnwick Garden, complete with its famous poison garden and spectacular treehouse restaurant.

Just 12 miles away, Alnmouth’s sandy beaches offer a scenic retreat, perfect for coastal walks, picnics, or even a dip in the North Sea. Further up the coastline, explore the fishing villages of Craster and Seahouses, where you can sample fresh seafood, take a boat trip to the Farne Islands to see puffins and seals, or walk to the dramatic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the surrounding countryside is a haven for adventure. Thrunton Woods, located nearby, is a paradise for mountain bikers and walkers, while the rolling Cheviot Hills offer miles of hiking trails through breathtaking landscapes. Just a short drive away, Rothbury and the magnificent Cragside Estate, the first house in the world to be powered by hydroelectricity, provide further opportunities to explore Northumberland’s heritage and natural beauty. The Northumberland Coast and Castles route offers even more historic gems, including the iconic Bamburgh Castle, perched dramatically above golden sands, and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, accessible by a tidal causeway. The border country beyond provides wild, open spaces leading into Northumberland’s Dark Sky Park, offering incredible stargazing opportunities and the chance to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights on a clear night. Whether you’re seeking history, adventure, or pure relaxation, this enchanting tower offers the perfect retreat to experience the best of Northumberland.
