This holiday cottage with countryside views is in a small row of three and located between the Cheviot Hills and the Northumbrian coastline, offering an ideal retreat for couples or friends. It is just 4 miles from Eglingham, which was named as one of the top 50 best places to live in the countryside by the Sunday Times. It is midway between Alnwick, 11 miles, with its famous castle, and Wooler, known as the Gateway to the Cheviots. An ideal base to visit the Cheviots, the Borders or a short drive to the Northumbrian Heritage Coast - an AONB with castles, fortresses and unspoilt beaches and just 3 miles from the famous Chillingham Wild Cattle and castle. Fishing is available locally. Shop 6 miles, pubs and restaurants 4 miles.

This was our 3rd visit to this lovely cosy and comfortable rural cottage in an ideal location with stunning views over the Cheviots to the front and over the hills to the rear. This was our first visit to Northumberland and Folly view for our accommodation did not disappoint. The cottage and the location was perfect if you want peace and to get away from the hectic world we live in. The cottage was spotless and extremely comfortable. Felt so much at home and the log burner was an added bonus to light at night after spending a day out enjoying the coast and towns of this beautiful county. Would return to Folly view in a heartbeat. I found Folly View quite by accident whilst searching the internet, what a find. The cottage and furnishings are superb and a lovely outlook plus Alpacas in the field outside. This cottage is absolutely wonderful, the location 'for us' was spot on so quiet and dark at night there are so many stars! The cottage is spotlessly clean and with all the appliances you need for a week away and the people around are so friendly. We had a wonderful week at Folly View. The cottage was so perfect with stunning views. We loved the alpacas in the field just feet from the door. The cottage was so well equipped with everything you would need and a very comfortable bed and sofa which was so welcome after long walks each day. We appreciated the flowers, wine, cakes and tea and coffee tray when we arrived. The number of repeat guests in the visitors book is testament to just how lovely it was. We hope to be back one day. Folly View is a great cottage and we would use it again. It is a touch remote and we knew this when we booked so it was fine for us but others might not think so, hence the score of 1 for local amenities. A few of the kitchen utensils had not been cleaned but as we didn't use them it was of no consequence. The only real niggle was with the heating. The thermostat is incorrectly positioned so gives a false reading and the target temperatures were set too low to allow it to come on in the programmed periods. This could easily be rectified and if the owners wish to they can contact me for details.
