"This is a very run-down vintage hotel, whose heritage values are overshadowed by years of neglect. We were struck by musty carpets, flaking plaster and paint, and shredded curtain linigs. The shower over the bath is a danger for elderly clients getting in and out. The room seemed too large for the heat pump to warm adequately. Internal calls to reception were never answered or returned.
Parking on the hotel's premises is a real problem. While this is advertised as available, on arrival we were...
"Was a last-minute booking, price was reasonable. The accommodation was huge and very clean overall; just the outside needs cleaning, and the gardens and lawns need mowing. would stay again"
"Room was clean if basic. Foyer area was unwelcoming. Parking was separate from hotel and information regarding access was limited. Not very welcoming for me as a solo traveller who was new to the area."
"Our stay at the Camelot was lovely and the staff we dealt with before and when we arrived were excellent. The entire room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom facilities were very good. Loved the fact that the room we stayed in was very quiet. I would highly recommend this motel to family and friends."
"Our room had a nice view down the hill. Parking was free. Bathroom was small, the sink the size one can sometimes find in a small powder room - definitely too small. At evening time somebody cooked or fried a fish dish and the unpleasant smell was noticeable in our room as well. Unfortunately, it was still too cold outside to open the window overnight. Smelling the fish all night was not great."
"The room was very neglected & needs completely refurbishing. The springs could be felt through the sheets on the double bed mattress. The fridge freezer was noisy & in the bedroom area.
All the paintwork was chipped & worn & the bathroom vanity stained & old. Flooring in the bathroom was marked, dirty & lifting in places.
I've stayed in many places & thought this was very overpriced for the conditions.
It looks like the room has never been redecorated since the motel was built. "
