"The openplan reception/games room/sports bar/restraunt was very noisy, bar was expensive. Rooms were clean functional with tea/coffee....but no air-con!!! Which is ridiculous for a reasonably new hotel. Breakfast was the usual buffet affair. Carpark, free at weekends only...."

I enquired if there was an event due to the volume. Check in team asked if I had been before, I explained I had not but then had to keep asking about amenities eg when and where breakfast took place and how to find the lift to the bedrooms.
