"This property is a gem. The central location near the Royal Mile is ideal for exploring the city. The hotel is spotless. The staff is friendly and eager to accomodate. The restaurant and lounge are inviting with excellent food. When visiting Edinburgh, I would choose to stay here again."

"Not the hotel's fault but there are major roadworks outside at the moment and the road was gridlocked & noisy. Apart from that the lift system was 'quirky' with one list out of order for much of the time. Other than that we had a good time, the hotel is very well placed between the Royal Mile and Princes St. Excellent buffet style breakfast with a very full range of options."

"This was a last minute booking. The staff were helpful and very nice. The restaurant staff were both pleasant and fun. The location is perfect for walking to local sites. "

"We stopped at the Pine Marten for 2 nights. The hotel is in a very convenient spot and was well located for us. Our room was fine - clean and comfortable with all the basic facilities necessary. Check in and check out was easy. We had a ground floor room with level access. The staff at the hotel and associated pub were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. The food was great and they were very keen to make sure that my food allergies were catered for. A good hotel 👍"

"Beautiful hotel, great welcoming staff (from front house to restaurant to pool). Room was perfect - especially the view. Beds were very comfy, parking location ideal!. *Something out of the hotels control which was negative was the families / kids creating mayhem in the pool area. Inflatables and ‘dads’ jumping in was quite frankly embarrassing. After 2 minutes I left (sadly the 8pm adults only swim was around my dinner reservation). "

"We stayed in the John Muir suite and had a fantastic seaview. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. Great location for a stroll along the beautiful coastline. We stayed 2 nights and had a lovely relaxed time in a great hotel."

"We very much enjoyed our evening here. Our budget friendly room was on the 3rd floor, but there was a small lift to help with luggage. Our room was lovely, although a bit warm, and the bathroom was large. We had nice reqding chairs and windows that overlooked part of the garden. Staff was lovely!"

"This is the real castle deal! We were thrilled be allocated room 4 in the large turret of the castle. A red four postered bed themed room with all the glory of days gone by. The bathroom was located down a narrow hallway near the door to the room and that made for some fun too! It felt really special! The ghost of Lady Catherine sadly didn't visit us and we slept like babies. Dinner in the dungeon was sensational and drinks before and after in the lounge rounded off the night. Brekkie was fab...

"The property was in a quiet area close to all the places we wanted to go and with a wonderful park nearby. The staff were amazing and able to help with all our needs. The only issue I had was the worn furniture and the scratches on the wood floors. "
