"Lovely stay at the hotel. Great service. Beautiful hotel. Great breakfast. Nice and close to all the shops and things to do. Downside - pillows really uncomfortable. We were in room 231 which was on the back and you did get noise from the tanoy but nothing terrible. "

"I liked the idea of foregoing a chambermaid to gain a free drink. The breakfast wasn’t as good as last time (Oct 23 ) also didn’t like the fact that I couldn’t put a drink on my room on the last night "

"The Hotel and bedrooms require updating as we have visited the Crown Spa hotel over a number of years. There were broken items in the bathroom. The Gym is still excellent."

"The hotel is well located and it's nice and modern. The hotel staff I find lacked a bit of smiles whether it be at reception or the bar. Not a fan of separate bathrooms in them room but that's many French brand hotels. "

"The check in was a bit problimatic as the afternoon we checked in the hotel was joining the Hilton group so therefore were being transferred over to the new system.The cards we were given did not open the door to the street or inner room door, Was sorted out by the staff as soon as we informed them. Hope this nice Art deco hotel doesn't change as its now part of the Hilton Group"

"Be aware that only half of this hotel has elevator access. Staff communication is questionable, we were booked in for dinner only for to find out when we arrived that reception was not aware that the entire dinning room was booked for a tour bus group. We had to eat in the bar. Morning breakfast with the same tour group was very disorganised, and it was very much first come first serve for seating."

"Overall a good stay but wouldn’t consider it boutique. Few marks and stains on the carpets ,curtains ill fitting. Appreciate the history and age of the building but it’s in need of a few domestic repairs. Unable to reduce the temperature of the water in the shower and was far too hot. After a while there was no water at all available. Breakfast was good . "

"Absolutely beautiful hotel, with old worldly vibes, beautiful decor and excellent service. Just a 10 min walk to the centre of York. I will be recommending this hotel, and hopefully staying again next time I visit York."

"A beautiful period coaching inn with wonderful views. The staff were amazing, friendly & dedicated to ensuring our stay was pleasurable. For the elderly it is worth mentioning that there is no lift, which makes access to the upper floors somewhat challenging. We found the diner menu somewhat limited & unvarying, but this did not detract from our overall experience sufficiently to completely mar our stay. This is the only reason we cannot give te hotel an overall 5 star rating."

"Very good hotel in excellent location for Helmsley with great spa facilities. Slightly disappointed with quality of cleaning of room with no drinks or toiletry replenishment after the first nights stay. Good breakfast but food slow coming out of kitchen, not the waiting staffs fault though. Lovely lounges and excellent bar with helpful and welcoming staff. "
