Downtown San Jose is interesting but a bit tatty, though a very prominent security presence was very comforting (though we did not tour after dark). The area is visually attractive but too full of souvenir shops, rather like New York's Times Square in the1980s. But the hotel itself more than compensated for the lack of neighborhood ambience. "

The only negative was the hotel restaurant and hotel boutique, very expensive and not good value. Better to eat and shop elsewhere. I would stay ther again."
