"Arrived and all but one of the self check-in kiosks were out of order. Waited and used it, only for it to freeze. A member of staff then assisted from his laptop but insisted we needed to pay for the room, even though it had been paid for in advance. He remained insistent, even after being shown the receipt. I refused to pay again and asked him to double check. He reluctantly did so and discovered it had been paid. No apology offered and he checked us in. This took far too long.
The room was...
"Very good hotel, well located near the town centre. The room was good, spacious and dog friendly. Hotel staff were very helpful and we really enjoyed our weekend stay. We will definitely be back."
"Lovely old property . Nicely decorated. Staff very helpful
and pleasant.
Unfortunately my bathroom needed refurbishing the bath was chipped and bath taps loose and parts missing. The window frame was rusty and needed painting. A shame because room decor was pleasant."
"In the first room TV and various lights weren’t working, they gave me a second room and heating didn’t work initially.
Mattress was very poor and uneven to sleep on, you could feel every spring.
Biscuits on floor down back of work desk, a faulty leaking shower head, the list goes on.
It became apparent wondering around the hotel that it was an old Hilton that’s been taken over at some point and can only presume it hasn’t been updated since it was built in the 90’s I’m presuming.
Breakfast...
"Great stay , staff were excellent & really friendly. Stayed with my elderly parents & staff made us welcome & made the weekend for us. Only thing to improve was parts of the hotel were a little cold, but the excellent staff gave mum & dad an additional heater for their room. Restaurant was great & quality of food was excellent. :)"
"Large recently upgraded hotel great facilities. Clean. Car parking a problem no doubt because many event rooms all packed on saturday night.
Bath ouldnt be emptied as drain lifter broken , reported.
Really good breakfast. Lovley large room."
"Just received 2 parking fines despite the tablet to register on not working when I checked in and being assured this would be taken care of! So on top of a half made bed and the 40 minute wait in the restaurant during my stay and having to go elsewhere to eat I would say this was a disaster! To top it off no one appears to answer the phone or deal with anything related to customer service issues. Very disappointed"
"The large suite upstairs is great but no lift. Luckily I had help with my luggage during check in and when checking out. The room itself is super roomy.
The bathroom vanity area has poor lighting."
"Overall, the hotel is quite nice. Unfortunately, it’s challenging to contact the front desk from the rooms and we had to request three times to get a second set of towels for the two of us. The air conditioning wasn’t turned on so the room was quite stuffy as the windows do not open. The location was superb, the staff friendly, and the room was comfortable. Overall, a nice experience."
"Nice hotel, great location & a comfy room. Only three stars as I had to wait four hours for my room to become available & the poached eggs at breakfast were just about raw."
