"★★★★☆
The George Hotel has plenty going for it: welcoming staff, a generously sized room, thoughtful extra amenities and a wonderfully comfortable bed. The location is incredible, too.
However, as many other reviewers have mentioned, this is not a quiet hotel. We were in a designated quiet room, with no events taking place during our stay, and could still hear just about everything happening around us.
Four and a half ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the comfort, staff and fantastic location, but light sleepers...
"The rooms and breakfast are good but the dinners don't do it for me. As a weary traveller, what I really want is the sort of comfort food that you can get in their services but the dinner menu seems too fancy."
"Lovely place. This is a rustic place in the middle of nowhere and is fantastic! Worth all the travel. Staff were amazing. Food was superb. I had the giant Yorkshire pudding with beef bourginon. My room was lovely and the bed comfortable. A very welcoming place even for a single traveller like me. I’m definitely going back at some point! Brilliant"
"Wonderful attention to detail. The comfiest bed and sheets in the UK.
Top quality ingredients for brekky doesn’t go unnoticed either.
Sue is a superstar. Good luck in London for the awards you deserve to win 🥇 ❤️"
"We had a great welcome after walking all day on the Pennine Way. The room was comfortable, clean and met our every need.
The evening meal was delicious and ample.
We would definitely recommend High Force Hotel."
"This has to be the craziest room I've ever stayed in, in a good way.
The floors were sloped the furniture was sloping in line with the floors. Bed comfy amd bathroom was nice and clean.
If you are after a quirky stay then this place is for you."
"Lovely location right on the reservoir. Staff were all so friendly and accommodating. Food was beyond expectations and everyone was really impressed with dinner and breakfast."
"Lovely hotel in the heart of Kirkby Stephen. No breakfast, but could be arranged albeit for an extra fee, and a bit too late for walkers. Comfortable bed and bedding. TV and wifi worked well."
"The rooms were clean and comfortable. It's a no-frills visit, so bring what you need. If you're staying in Penrith for the first time, ask for directions to the hotel, because the gps will take you the long way. There is a shortcut to and from the station."
