"Got there at 8:15pm booked in and got shown to our rooms, once we put our stuff down we went down stairs to get a drink and order some food, we ordered our drink and asked for menus, we were told it had been too busy and we couldn’t get food. After a moan they apologised and brought us menus we ordered for a chicken burger and two steak pies. After an hour to food came out the chicken in the burger was dry but edible, the same can’t be said for the pies both pies smelt horrible once opened and...

"Pub was dated, and our room had a shower/toilet in a pod, so read the small print when booking. The pod was extremely small with little room to manoeuvre and the extractor fan did not work. Also music could be heard in our room from downstairs. The positive is the shower was warm, the staff extremely friendly and the breakfast good. Also the local clientele were warm, friendly and welcoming"

"Big, clean comfortable room. Marvellous staff, so friendly and would do anything to help you enjoy your stay. Lovely town and Corbridge Roman town just a short walk away. Perfect location for exploring Northumberland’s Roman history. Large car park, ideal to leave car, explore town and visit historic Pele tower. "

"A good option for a family visiting Durham University or, as we did, attending a graduation ceremony. Only a 20-minute drive from the centre of Durham, but cheaper than staying centrally in Durham. Friendly staff, good full English breakfast. We had a room that slept 4 people, which looked relatively recently renovated with ensuite shower and toilet. Shower was good."

"What a find this place was. We needed somewhere to stay and shelter from Storm Dave rather than risk the campervan. We were lucky enough to find the family room at the String of Horses. Amazing food in the pub, amazing and super friendly staff, especially the lady who sorted out brownie pieces for my ten year old rather than the Sundae dessert version. "No evening meal due to chef needing time off, staff seemed to have no idea what was happening. Only food available in the area was pizza at a hostel across the road. Breakfast room opened at 8:30 and consisted of help yourself Coco pops, croissants or toast, if you had an early start, nothing. Overall a very poor experience."
