"The hotel is closed, with the sign removed, the doors padlocked, and dogs and chickens wandering around outside. I had to call the cab that had just dropped me off late in the afternoon to come get me and take me to another hotel. I got numerous emails from the hotel welcoming me even that day, with shuttle information etc. Without daily maintenance the place is looking forlorn and a bit spooky. I read some reviews afterwards on another website that also mentioned it was closed, or a...

"The location is incredible, staff were helpful and friendly! For the price and being directly on the beach it was perfect."

"I really liked the hotel. Especially the two large pools—one with saltwater and the other with fresh water."

"This is a beautifully-crafted, very clean hotel. The staff are helpful and kind. Breakfast is cooked to order with beautiful trays of fresh fruit and excellent coffee. The grounds are lovely, and all around are huge, magnificent trees full of many birds. One one side of the hotel is a market, and on the order side is a very good restaurant. There are several beaches nearby, but my favorite beach is a short drive north in the wildlife refuge."

"Just for one night it was ok. A unique property where our super basic room was in an old barn. No air conditioning but two fans. Shared bathrooms. Our host Andrea wss awesome."

"An absolute gem of a place. It is just as rustic as the photos suggest and that’s exactly the charm. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, immaculate property, stunning gardens. Also the best night sleep of our stay in Costa Rica hands down."

"The only thing okay about this place was the AC. The staff was super nice but we didn’t like the place in general. There were way too many bugs, frogs and ants (even on our beds). The bathtub was dirty. The photos of swimming pool of this property on the internet are years old. It is a dirty pond now. There was no shampoo or shower gel (which is fine for the price you pay) but really spooky and untidy place. Fine for emergencies or just to sleep for a night."

"Beautiful condo. Clean. Very well appointed. Semi-private beach. Would visit again!"

"Incroyable endroit de paix! Propriété magnifique avec chevaux, si singes… la cabane rustique tient bien c’est nom, c’est rustique! Mais l’expérience vaut la peine. Le manager sur place est d’une gentillesse et d’un dévouement incroyable! Sans voiture, l’endroit n’est pas très facile d’accès, mais avec une voiture il n’y a pas de problème. C’était le stop parfait avant de traverser au Nicaragua."
