"I really did like my stay, the front desk girl was wonderful..that being said, the room was not clean, hair and dirt on the dust ruffle and comforter either had not been washed or was stained badly. I went out and bought my own sheets...the property would be so very cute if cleaned around the outside and the pool area needs attention bad. I had loose tiles in the bathroom doorway and a ring in the toilet..all these are minor things and with a bit of care would be easy to make better..I never got...
"Booked this place since it was the only place available, the room has been updated and is clean however there’s is a really strong smell of humidity or mold that you can’t get over it, after reading some of the reviews seems like this is a persistent problem with this place. I didn’t pay too much for the night but I really thought about leaving the place after a while, i had to cover my mouth and nose to sleep so I wouldn’t smell anything,

"This is a great hotel. Anniversary stay. Very modern, upscale rooms. Rooms came with many extras such as snacks, beach towels and chairs, access to free-use bicycles. Within walking distance of the village, lighthouse, restaurants, ice cream places, and coffee shops. Ferry slip is also close by. Hanna, General Manager, was a highly welcoming host and gave us pointers about the island. Best customer service. We will most definitely stay at this hotel again the next time we are on the OBX."
"Very quaint hotel for staying at the beach. Rates very reasonable as we have stayed before in the past. Great private access to the beach. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The bathroom needed more electrical outlets."
"Can't expect excellent standards at a motel that must be at least 70 years old. But considering its age, it was very, very well worth the money. The hardwood floors appeared to be new, as was the mattress, the TV, the paint, and the shower. The window AC was noisy, but kept the room artic cold (had to clean the filter screen). I would stay here again."
"The house had an unpleasant odor, the kitchen pots were not very clean, and there were no blankets provided for sleeping, which was inconvenient. If the host could improve the cleanliness of the kitchen, freshen up the house, and ensure blankets are available, it would make the stay much more comfortable."
