"We needed an overnight stop near Lewes, this being a mile or so north. Though on a main road (A275) it is a quiet, unpretentious and old country pub between a couple of other houses (one a former smithy) with convenient parking and an outside sitting/eating area behind, as well as 'bistro' style eating in the large downstairs bar, with a good selection of beers etc. The room and bathroom were simple and spotless,with fine quality towels and bed linen. "Great place to stay. We were going to a concert In Brighton and this was an ideal place to stay. Staff were helpful about local area, amenities and getting to and from Brighton. Room is simple but perfect for what we needed. Breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious. Plenty of choice, happy to accommodate special dietary requirements. Highly recommend. "
