Waterfront Retreat on Maine’s Coast | Pet-Friendly | Private + Guest Suite

"The day we arrived in Maine, we got a message from the host stating there usihad been a problem with the guest suite, and it was not going to be available if we were planning on using it. We were going to use it for the extra bathroom while the two of us were getting ready to head out on our adventures, but otherwise, we were not. I suspect this would have been quite an ordeal if we had planned on fully utilizing it, as the host said none of their other properties were available. But they were ready to assist in finding other accomodations, if necessary. Other than this, we had a very good experience. We did have contractors on premises for a few days as they worked to get the guest suite operational again, but they were very nice and tried to stay out of our way. The main house was very clean, and the location is gorgeous! We particularly enjoyed the sunroom, the deck, and cooking out on the very nice grill. Right on a beautiful river, the grounds were well kept and in a nice area that is about equidistant between Bar Harbor and Winter Harbor. Very good restaurants were close, and Ellsworth is a lovely town not far away, where we had some very good meals. The temps during our stay were wonderfully in the 70s. This was an excellent property for our purposes of sightseeing, cooling off, and having wonderful meals. We recommend it!"

"We are a family of 5, with 3 teens. This house was a great space for us. It had separation for us to spend time apart and good space for us to be together. A few notes.Some reviews complained about the house being close to the road. This wasn't an issue for us. There are bushes separating the house from the road, and the road just isn't busy. The basement has the only TV, which was great, and it had a pool table. The basement was a bit cramped for a pool table but we made it work. The pool cues need replaced, most are either broken or need new tips. Also the plastic darts for the dart board have bent tips and need replaced. All these are minor issues that we worked with.The distance from Acadia was perfect for us. We don't mind 45 minutes on the road. The house does not have AC, but our week was mild temps, so it was beautiful. The house does have some quirks. The light switches are super confusing in some places. I don't think we ever figured out how to turn some lights or fans on. The host was great! We didn't have any fluid to start the charcoal grill, and she brought some over. There are restaurants and grocers nearby, so it's not in the middle of nowhere. All in all, this was a great stay. Highly recommend!"

"This was a lovely place - we had a private room on the back of the house, over the garage. We could see the lake and it was so restful for us. There was a grill outside that was perfect to make dinners. The beds were comfy and there were alot of towels etc. Comfy living room and dining area. Can't beat this place. Loved staying there"

"Very nice view. Owners very responsive to a couple of issues that came up. Note if you're renting kayaks - Tidal water with 14 foot change from low to high tide. Fun for kids to play at low tide, but you'll need to store kayaks very high at high tide."
