Experience Romanian rural life in it's purest form by visiting the small farming community of Sinca Noua. There are few modern tools used and it feels like a giant step back in time.

Arranged through villagelife.ro, we stayed with a local family for four days. We helped in the fields, learned how to make traditional dishes, even took in a music recital and local church festivities. The hosts knew little English but that added to the charm and we were able to pick up some Romanian.

This is an impressive initiative to bring tourism to rural areas, and one that we can't rave about enough! Considering today's issues of overtourism especially - as travelers we should be frequenting the road less traveled.

"I stayed here only 2 nights. the place itself is beautiful overlooking the mountain . Place was clean and vey comfortable. breakfast is very good and so is dinner. Now for the negative no receptionist to welcome you. If you go late you stay outside. Too many bus loads of hikers stay there and they are catered to 1st Since i did not get a paper of when to check out i did not know. "Wow! Great location and bargain price that included breakfast. Bit tricky on parking but contact hotel in advance to reserve one of a handful of spots. Staff were friendly and helpful with parking. Definitely recommend and you are in the midst of everything here"
