Experience Romanian rural life in it's purest form by visiting the small farming community of Sinca Noua. There are few modern tools used and it feels like a giant step back in time.

Arranged through villagelife.ro, we stayed with a local family for four days. We helped in the fields, learned how to make traditional dishes, even took in a music recital and local church festivities. The hosts knew little English but that added to the charm and we were able to pick up some Romanian.

This is an impressive initiative to bring tourism to rural areas, and one that we can't rave about enough! Considering today's issues of overtourism especially - as travelers we should be frequenting the road less traveled.

"We had a wonderful stay at this holiday home! The location is beautiful, surrounded by nature – perfect for a relaxing getaway. The house was exactly as described: not new, but very well maintained, perfectly clean, fully functional, and warmly heated, which was especially appreciated during our February stay. Supermarkets are about a 20-minute drive away. The host was very kind and attentive, making us feel truly welcome. Overall, a great experience – we would love to come back!"

"The suite was clean, well decked out, and really cute. The owner gave clear instructions and communicated well. The location was great too! I would 100% book this room again in the future."

"Incredible views, peace and quiet in a rural out of the way location. Very romantic and private. It does not have the A/C, if it’s important to you, but the temperature in the mountains is cooler than the rest of the country and you may even find yourself reaching for a sweater in the evening when outside. Great hiking, biking and horse riding available in the village. Breakfast is plentiful (and included) made of a daily local meat and cheese platter, country bread, vegetables, and fresh eggs....

"Our stay here was great. We were made to feel welcome and the staff were very helpful when we needed them. We had a deluxe double room which was very spacious and the bed comfortable. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the old town one way and 15 minutes from a big shopping centre the other. The spa facilities were OK, the jacuzzi was a good size. We had breakfast and the choices were OK, enough for us. The bar had a reasonable selection of drinks but we didn't eat in the restaurant. On return to Brasov would definitely stay here again. "
