    VR PERMIT #211306 | Exp. 11/2026

    The Captain’s Quarters: Oceanfront Luxury

The Captain’s Quarters boasts one of the most spectacular oceanfront views in all of Santa Cruz. This is beachfront living at its best, with wraparound decks facing the Pacific and sweeping Monterey Bay views from nearly every room in the home.

Perched at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and nestled above one of Santa Cruz’s most beloved beaches—Twin Lakes Beach—this single-level retreat offers unobstructed 260-degree ocean views and direct beach access just steps from the deck. Whether you're soaking up the sun, enjoying the ocean breeze, or unwinding to the sound of the waves, every moment here feels effortless.

With 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a full kitchen plus a separate updated kitchenette, the home is thoughtfully designed to accommodate multiple families or groups traveling together. Enjoy 160 feet of ocean frontage, expansive indoor and outdoor living spaces, and parking for up to three vehicles.

Ideally located between the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and Capitola Village—and just a short walk to the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor—you’ll have easy access to fresh seafood, local dining, beach bonfires, and everything that makes the Santa Cruz coastline so special. Pick up fresh catch from Stagnaro Bros. and prepare a meal at home, or explore the many nearby restaurants just minutes away.

Wake up to breathtaking sunrises from the primary suite, and in the evening, watch the lights of Monterey, Moss Landing, and Pacific Grove shimmer across the bay.

Whether you're gathering with family, reconnecting with friends, or simply escaping to the coast, The Captain’s Quarters offers an unforgettable oceanfront experience..

The view simply cannot be beat. You walk from a huge wrap-around deck with full view of the ocean right out of a gate and onto stairs leading to the beach below.

You walk into the house and the view takes your breath away. They allowed our dogs which was important to us.The kitchen is outdated but we spent our time outside and that was great!

Unbelievable views. We have stayed at this property several times (3 to date). You are literally on the water and beach. Our family decides together where to go- and the Captains Quarters is a unanimous decision. We have seen whales dolphin otters and seals. The wrap around deck has 300 degree views. The property is pet friendly and the beach is pet friendly.

House was definitely somewhat outdated but was very clean and well equipped. The real reason to stay here is the fantastic location! With the points to the East and West of the property access to this section of beach is very limited, especially during mid to high tide. In addition the private beach area is great especially for young children.

This property is pet friendly. This is the best house from Half Moon Bay to Monterey. The house has 270 degrees of windows to take in the beach views. Sunsets are gorgeous, the light house is great and the beach is beautiful. We have stayed here two times and will stay there again and again!Btw- this last time we had a seal a sea otter and two whale sightings- all close enough to see from the deck. Did I mention the deck? It is fantastic!

We stayed at Captains Quarters for our spring break. What an amazing home!! From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with ,literally, the most breathtaking ocean views. These views continue around the entire home. It fit our family with kids so comfortably. The kitchen came fully stocked with everything we needed to cook for our families for the entire 4 days. The easiest way to get to the beach is to exit near the BBQ. A short 5 second walk to the staircase and then you are able to walk to clean, beautiful beach. The home came with plenty of towels for the beach and for bathing. So many games, puzzles, activities for the kids. The bed linens were so soft- everyone slept great. PLENTY of indoor and outdoor seating. Honestly, we are going to make this a yearly trip. What a great home! They communicate via text during your stay, and answer any questions so fast. Can’t wait to come back! :)

Disappointed

The only complaint I have is the the bedroom I stayed in had huge stains in the badly worn carpet. The shower was rust and crud on bottom of door. I didn’t d not feel comfortable taking a shower. Given the price of the property I was disappointed in the condition of my room. The location is great, but I would not stay here again unless I knew that bedroom was cleaned up.

Beautiful home Perfect view!

I have many criticisms of this home. The house itself is beautiful, and I would definitely return. It was not clean when we arrived so I had to clean it before my guest arrived. Carpets filthy in need of cleaning.Bathroom shower moldy and drain cover loose and could cut your foot if your not careful. Glassed in kitchen needed to be washed before using...The property managers were nice and responded quickly. But more attention needs to be taken to this lovely house before it gets worse. Ongoing maintaince is necessary in such a wonderful spot. Thank you and I would return and hopefully all will be taken care of

Loved this property. Glad we came before tourist season started. So busy. 3rd shower didn’t work.

Despite 3rd shower not working, loved it. Could use more bathroom linens. More hand towels. No screens on doors; maybe other properties don’t have them either? These are little things. Would love to visit again!!!! Family get together- damn kids all moved to west coast ( we from Michigan). Where was the washer/dryer? Thanks

Fantastic property right in the beach

Great location and amenities. Although some of the property is outdated. It is clean and very well supplied. Beds were comfortable, bedding was clean. Only negative was the shower in the master bath has very low water pressure and the drain has some sharp sections that could cut someone. Other than that this was a fantastic vacation rental that I would refer to anyone and would stay at again

The reason why you would stay here would be to stay on the beach and have a view.

We were thrilled with the location and view, it really was wonderful. It's great to be able to walk to the Crows Nest. We were disappointed with the actual house itself as it hasn't been maintained very well in the inside and the picture of the outside from the beach makes it look quite nice. The master bedroom and guest room on the somewhat updated side were quite nice. The third interior room was very old and outdated. The carpet in that room was old and dirty and didn't smell clean. The only shower that worked with any volume was near the master. The other two showers barely had any flow and were useless for showering. The kitchen doesn't seem to have ever been updated. This house could be incredible with a few upgrades and touches. I think we had hoped for a little less of a beater at the price we paid for the holiday weekend.

Better than my expectation!!! Thank you...

When I walked in to the house I got teary eyed with happiness looking at the view and knowing immediately that the home was better than what I was expecting. We rented this home for my family honoring my son's graduation from high school and moving onto his next chapter with the Army. We had a family gathering on Saturday day/evening with family and friends that came by to wish him well. The house was just perfect!!! The house is large with 2 kitchens and 2 family rooms and the deck is amazing. The pics online are old and do not let you know that much has been updated. The original kitchen and original bathroom have been updated but are really quite charming. I would love to know the history of the property. One suggestion....better BBQ, other than that really can't wait to rebook for next year and make traditions with this property. I said to my Mom that this house is such a Happy House because so many happy memories can be created here for so many families. Thank you for making your family home a rental for other families to enjoy....Just loved it!!!

Captain's Quarters is Fantastic

This is a great place for a few families to relax. The place overlooks a beautiful swimming beach and both the beach and house are dog friendly. Our dog loves the porch, the beach and house. You can hear the crash of the waves and it makes for great sleeping. You can monitor kids from above on the porch as they play on beach. Two kitchens and 3 bathrooms, 1 nicely remodeled makes for nice amenities...But the views baby, the views. I would gladly go back to this place a third time.
