Nestled in a valley at the foot of the Chics Chocs in Gaspésie, the self-contained tiny house (which has no running water), is a private and sunny space to spend time in the calm of nature. Beautiful hiking trails and scenic viewpoints can be accessed from the door of the octagonal tiny house.
The tiny house is a place of detachment from the city, noise and technology. It is a place to take on small challenges to refresh our instincts, to connect with ourselves and nature. We do not charge for cleaning because we believe that everyone is capable of cleaning after their stay. The philosophy is to leave the tiny house as you found it. These small tasks can awaken creativity and well-being.
Microclimate: The tiny house is located in a valley one kilometer from the sea. Therefore, the temperature here is normally 5 degrees Celsius higher than that of the seaside.
Kitchen: There is a propane stove with two burners, a propane refrigerator, pots, pans, coffee maker, plates, bowls, cups and cutlery. There is a sink for washing but there is no running water in the tiny house.
Water: Water for drinking and washing must be brought from the streams with the 18 liter canister on site. It is a drinking spring water. A water filter is at your disposal.
Electricity: Solar panels supply the tiny house with electricity. 12v lights are located in the mezzanine and in the kitchen. There are also USB and 110V sockets in the form of a surge bar accessible to guests.
Bathroom: The indoor bathroom is rustic with the concept dating back to before the invention of plumbing: water from a tank in the kitchen can be used for hand washing. There is a 5 gallon tank on the wood stove with a pulley system for the shower. Please empty the water basin at the end of each shower into the grey water filtration site. We provide a basin, carafe, towels and washcloths.
Toilets: There is a compost toilet outside with a view of the mountain. The internal bathroom has a shower only.
Wood Heater/Stove: Although it is relatively simple, it can be useful to use the accessories of the stove, which can be found in the kitchen drawer. We provide fire starters for lighting, please use it only to light the fire. Use the large logs to maintain the fire. At the end of your stay, please stack the wood from the outside inside on the edge of the fireplace.
Parking: You can leave your car at the parking lot located 100m from the tiny house on the main road Rioux during the summer. During the winter you can leave your car at the parking lot located 1 kilometer from the tiny house on the main Rioux road. Snowshoes mandatory.PGJyPg
Trash and recycling: Please bring garbage bags. We do not provide garbage bags as we believe that visitors' garbage is their responsibility, I hope you agree:) Empty your compost at the assigned location near the tiny house. Please do not put paper bags in the compost.
Pets: We love and welcome dogs. Please do not allow dogs on the beds and carefully sweep the tiny house of dog hair when you leave, as some other visitors staying in the tiny house may be allergic.
Hiking/Snowshoeing: You can start your hikes from the doorstep of the tiny house. A short one runs on the private road will connect to the International Appalachian Trail/Trans-Quebec Snowmobile Trail SIA. The AIS will take you to the Belvedere de l'Ours, offering spectacular views of the sea and the mountain range leading to Mont Jacques Cartier. We also have our own walking trail that circles the property, taking about 30-45 minutes. You'll discover bridges across the river, as well as stone and wooden spaces to sit and listen to the water. A natural pool invites you to cool off with a one-of-a-kind cold bath, ideal for hot days or for ice bath enthusiasts.
If you're up for the challenge of basic living and leave the tiny house in the condition you found it, it's yours.:)
