Very Good

Our stay was very relaxing and we had everything we could possibly need. If you’re looking for a hotel experience, this is not it. But it’s more of an indoor glamping experience, which is exactly what we were looking for!
Michele is a great hostess with the mostest, And both she and Cliff were very helpful and friendly!
First, Michelle and Cliff were the best hosts! They made sure we had everything we needed and checked on us often. They were even worried when we got lost. The house was very clean as were the towels and linens. We had enough silverware and dishes even though all we needed was coffee. The A/C units kept the house FREEZING!!!
The beach villa was clean and had everything we needed. Michelle was easy to get a hold of before and during our trip with any questions. The island is small and pretty quiet. It was the perfect escape we needed!!
We had a great time at the villa! It was so cozy for 2 adults and 4 kids we had! The property managers were so friendly and accommodating! The resort was awesome and we had a blast! Would definitely reccomend
A hidden hideaway. We never knew we could find island life so close to home. Michelle, the property manager, was wonderful (deserves 10 stars!) as well as the local people we were blessed to have gotten to meet. The general store was within walking distance. We rented a golf cart for the day for on $50 and it took us to every edge of the island. The pool area and property had a tropical feel. We will definitely refer friends looking for a place to get away and have some fun away from home and will be bringing the kids next time.
House and grounds were a lot of fun. Hazards is a really cool set up with lots of potential. We essentially stayed right as they were opening for Memorial day weekend so things were not quite ready or "cleaned up" 100%, which was understandable. Staff around the grounds were incredibly welcoming and nice as was the homeowner where we stayed.
House is very small and tight, but cozy and like upgraded island camping. I would totally come back again, just a bit later in season when everything is up and ready. I would recommend!

Not what we expected
First, with Covid and it being off season we didn't expect a lot to be open so that was not a problem. The pool and hot tub were filthy at the resort so that was a no go. Upon opening the unit it smelled like stale cigarettes. We thought if we left it open a little, it would air out - it did not. We went to use a plate that was in the cupboard and it still had dried food on it. I was thankful that we brought our own bedding as it was the only thing we felt comfortable sitting on - we didn't even want to remove our shoes. Needless to say we left on the ferry the next morning. Not a lot to do on the island which is what we were looking forward to. Unfortunately the villa had no chairs to sit outside, only a picnic table on the deck. Even if we wanted to sit around the tire ring fire pit, we could not as there were no chairs to use. Very disappointed as this was not a cheap place to rent.
We had a wonderful time at St. Hazards, the vila was comfortable.

Peaceful and relaxing
First I had read several bad reviews and I booked my stay anyway taking a chance on St Hazard resort. I’m going separate my review in sections the island, the resort and the villa to give a detailed review.
First island: If your expectations are a five star island and to be catered to with lots of entertainment Middle Bass island is not for you in general. Everything on this island is low key. There isn’t a lot of things to do except site see ride a bike or golf cart. If you are self sufficient and enjoy peace and quiet and a place to chill out then you will have a great time. We ate at all three restaurants and our favorite was the General Store the pizza there was great and also the service. Although the service was great at all three places. Most locals hang out at the GS.
The resort: Nice place yes it could use some freshening up around the grounds but it is not a bad place to stay. The bar is cool and friendly staff they make craft beer and I really enjoyed sitting and talking to the bartenders. Loved the craft beer! The pool is clean we vacationed off season late September and they still had the pool open. It is not green and filled with algae the cement is painted a aqua color and the water reflects that color.
The Villa: Cute and comfortable we did have issues with hot water but it didn’t change my opinion of the stay. I enjoyed talking to Cliff and Michelle the owner and their daughter Miranda all were very friendly and helpful. They are wonderful people and this was a great vacation for us during a crappy Covid filled 2020 year.
You make your vacation what you want it to be I love having a quiet and comfortable place to stay and that was this villa. Every morning I wake up and watched the sunrise and drank my coffee sitting on the deck. Thank you again Cliff, Michelle and Miranda. You are awesome and Rick and I will come back again.
This villa was just what we were looking for! Very clean throughout the entire resort. I was nervous when I read other reviews about the place being dirty and the pool being gross, but everything was wonderful and spotless! Everyone is very friendly and it was a great adult atmosphere. The pool and bar was our favorite thing and the live band was great throughout the whole weekend. Thank you Michele for a wonderful vacation!
This was not what the website said! The grounds were dirty and the pool was closed when the site said open. Wasn't worth the money and service fees when we had to clean before we left!
Very nice comfortable villa! Well maintained & plenty of room
Water in shower & kitchen was lukewarm & never got hot, it didn’t ruin our fun.
We enjoyed the villa & the island.

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Looks are deceiving.
The resort, was not clean. Pool was green and had garbage floating in it. The road into resort was filled with big potholes. The cottage itself had it's own problems. Hot water was warm at best. Resort and property has been neglected over the years.
It was great we are so excited to make this our annual destination for Memorial Day Weekend the owners are great and it was just delightful

Too much money for during the week
The property itself was ok very cut decor inside and out, the resort it is on needs a lot of TLC. Also I would recommend lower the price during the week. Or letting guest know there is not much open during the week on the island. Even breakfast is not available. The one day we went out to get it we went to the store which it was all reserved for the regulars on the island and a group of women that where there told us you can’t eat here there is a group of men coming it’s reserved. Luckily they at least had dounuts for the kids in the store part. As we where leaving more people where coming onto the island and I’m sure more is available on the weekends. Due to that I would lower price during the week, we made two trips to put in bay instead of one which was more money in the ferry rides.
Also there is NO BEACH at hazards so I would not advertise that. We had to go to put in bay for a beach because the one on hazards was apparently destroyed in weather which you can tell. They have not cleaned this up and not a great place for the kids to swim. The pool at hazards was not cleaned up until day three of being there probably was messed up on Monday when we got there because of the weekend. By Thursday you could tell it was cleaned and ready for the weekend! The place was ok but could have been a little cleaner for the money as well, before using the coffee pot we had to clean it. The kitchen did have all utensils and pots needed so that was a plus!! Grill was avaialable but not cleaned so we had to use foil before using. We did not use fire pit because we would have had to clean up area before using, also the sliding door could use some cleaning on the track or even some oil it was coming off track by the end of our stay. Person in charge of place was very nice, and the walleye eatery girls and staff where all very pleasant!! Pros and cons with this review so that’s why I went average in rating!!!!
