Park Central Hotel New York

Park Central Hotel New York

8/10 Good
"Park Central will never have a problem filling rooms. With their location, it’s like shooting fish in a barrel. A short walk from Times Square, on the same block as the yellow line subway, and in an are that feels pretty safe overall. All great reasons to stay there. Also all great reasons why they don’t appear to be putting as much money back into the property as they do into their pockets. Even a full time maintenance guy that walked around addressing little cosmetic fixes in the rooms would stay busy 24 hours a day. Paint and wallpaper peeling, blinds are dirty and frayed from overuse in the rooms. Mirrors are peeling, there are chips in the baseboards. The carpets are old, dirty and have several runs in them. The hotel is run down. For the price you will be disappointed in your actual room. For the location you will suck it up as a good value. Staff is very nice, approachable, and helpful. The elevators, as others note, are always overcrowded and painfully slow. And I’m told they were just updated, which is crazy. I had a routine where I gave up waiting to ride down in the elevator and just took the stairs, but would wait in the lobby for the ride up, because walking UP stairs is just not as quick and easy as walking down them. It’s a bummer I decided to habitually walk down them at all. So… yeah. I’d stay there again and just consider it the cost of a NYC visit. I’d tell others to stay there, but I won’t brag about the room."
