The region
Dunster is a medieval village on the edge of Exmoor National Park in West Somerset, dominated by its magnificent castle perched on a wooded hilltop above the High Street.
Often described as one of the most intact medieval villages in England, Dunster has a rich history stretching back over a thousand years. The iconic octagonal Yarn Market, built in the early 1600s, sits at the heart of the village -- a reminder of its prosperous wool-trading past. The broad High Street is lined with independent shops, galleries, tea rooms, and characterful pubs, many housed in listed buildings dating from the 15th and 16th centuries.
The village has its own Post Office with a cash machine, a deli, and a good range of places to eat and drink. For larger supermarkets, banks, and petrol stations, the coastal town of Minehead is just 1.5 miles away -- Tesco and Morrisons are both on the outskirts with long opening hours. Most shops in Dunster keep traditional hours of 9am to 5pm, often extending in summer.
Dunster hosts a lively programme of events throughout the year, including the Dunster Show, Dunster Country Fair, and the much-loved Winter Festival in early December when the village is lit by candlelight with music, dancing, and medieval re-enactments in the streets.
Security Deposit Information A £100.00 security deposit is required. This will be added to the total price of your booking, and will be refunded after your stay unless the owner discovers damage to the property or its contents after your departure.

Great location. Well equipped cottage, but not as cosy and comfortable as we expected. We felt it was a little under maintained and tired. In need of some TLC.
Although the kitchen was well equipped, many thing’s didn’t match, some of the pans and crockery needed replacing.
Very dark and drab.

The cottage is clean and very well equipped and great walks from the door.
We also loved being able to walk into the village and to the pub for dinner.
Our dogs loved it too.

Lovely cosy little cottage in a beautiful location! The kitchen was well equipped (we knocked up a roast dinner for four) and the beds are super comfy! Pretty views across the churchyard and plenty of dog walks straight from the door. We LOVED the woodburner. Great value for money, will be back!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely little cottage. Small but perfectly formed, it had everything we could wish for, including a very comfortable bed. It was a fabulous location with just a few minutes walk to the castle or the high street where we were able to enjoy the magic of Dunster by Candlelight.
The communication from the hosts has been great and they have been very helpful. I would highly recommend Ruffles Cottage

Lovely cottage, parked up and didn't need to use the car for 4 days. So many walks close by. Would recommend the secret garden on the lutteral arms on a sunny day. Location of cottage is amazing, it's about as central to Dunster as you can get. My wife, 2 boys (12 and 14) had an awesome stay.

Great little cozy cottage in the heart of Dunster Village
The booking and communication with the agent was easy and comprehensive. The cottage has everything you need and was clean and welcoming. Its location is ideal for local walks and is very close to pubs and restaurants.
The only issue is parking. There is very little parking nearby but there are car oarks close by that we had to use.
