"The hotel has been recently renovated and feels brand new. Both the lobby and the rooms are clean and very well-kept. However, because it is an old building, there is a noticeable sewage smell near the stairwell and elevator entrance. Management tries to mask this with a heavy perfume spray from the lobby to the rooms.
Honestly, I would still give the property 5 stars despite the smell, but I have to deduct stars due to the frustrating AC system. It features an aggressive energy-saving sensor that makes it nearly impossible to operate. Even after a staff member helped us set it to 22°C, the unit and the fan shut off after 15-20 minutes because it falsely detected the room was cold enough. There is no option to run the fan independently for air circulation. Because the sensor constantly shuts everything down every 15 to 20 minutes—even when tried set as low as 20C and 18°C—the room became incredibly humid, stuffy, and uncomfortable. For this reason alone, we probably won't stay here again on our next trip to Rome."
