About this property

Private Desert Ranch: Hot Tub, Cowboy Pool, Saloon

  • ☼ WELCOME TO FAT CITY ☼
A private high-desert ranch in Landers, California. Near Joshua Tree National Park and down the street from the Integratron. Set on 3 fenced acres with a hot tub, cowboy pool, saloon, fire pit, and mountain views, Fat City blends western character with desert-modern style under some of the darkest skies in the high desert.

Our team is available throughout your stay via the Airbnb app and text for questions, recommendations, or assistance with the property.

Fat City Ranch sits in Landers, California — a quieter, more open part of the high desert known for dark skies, wide views, and a slower pace than central Joshua Tree.

You’ll feel removed from the crowds while still being close to some of the desert’s most iconic spots:

➤ Joshua Tree National Park · ~20 min · Hidden Valley, Barker Dam, Keys View. Sunrise or sunset. Bring water.
➤ The Integratron · ~10 min · Sound baths inside a historic dome — book weeks ahead
➤ Giant Rock · ~10 min · Massive freestanding boulder steeped in UFO folklore
    ➤ Pappy & Harriet's, Pioneertown · ~25 min · Live music, mesquite BBQ, one of America's great honky-tonks
➤ La Copine, Flamingo Heights · ~30 min · Highly regarded desert dining — reservations essential
➤ Noah Purifoy Outdoor Art Museum · ~15 min · Open-air sculpture park — free and weird
➤ Frontier Café, Yucca Valley · ~25 min · Best pre-park breakfast and coffee
➤ Sky Village Swap Meet · ~25 min · Weekends only — sprawling, treasure-filled, wear good shoes
➤ Tiny Pony Tavern, Twentynine Palms · ~25 min · Desert cocktails, live music, and late-night energy inside the historic 29 Palms Inn
➤ Mas o Menos, Joshua Tree · ~25 min · Tacos, mezcal cocktails, and one of the livelier dinner spots in the high desert

Landers is about space, silence, stars, and atmosphere. Nights are dark, mornings are quiet, and the pace is slower out here.

Full access to the main house, saloon, both patios, cowboy pool, hot tub, games, and fenced outdoor spaces across the property.

    • Self check-in via Yale smart lock any time after 4 PM
    • Gate code and arrival instructions sent before check-in
    • Covered on-site parking available under the patio awning or inside the gated turnaround
    • Gravel driveway is accessible for standard vehicles

Two owner storage closets remain locked and unavailable to guests.

    THE DESERT
Fat City sits on open high-desert land in quiet Landers, California. Please respect the land, wildlife, and peaceful nature of the area.

    • Nights get extremely dark — a flashlight helps
    • Temperatures drop quickly after sunset, even in summer
    • Desert winds can arrive suddenly — secure loose items
    • Wildlife is common (jackrabbits, coyotes, roadrunners, occasional snakes) — never leave food or pets unattended outdoors

This is a fragile desert ecosystem. Please leave it better than you found it. 🏜

    GETTING HERE
⚠ GPS can occasionally misroute guests in the desert. We send custom turn-by-turn directions before check-in.

    • Gravel roads are normal and accessible for standard vehicles
    • Look for the small “FC” horseshoe sign near the ranch gate
    • Once you turn onto Linn Road, you’re close

    PROPERTY NOTES

    • Quiet hours begin at 10 PM out of respect for neighbors
    • Outdoor smoking only

    PETS
    • Pets are considered case-by-case. Please message us before booking with breed and weight details.
    • The property is fully fenced, but coyotes are common in the area. Never leave pets unattended outdoors.

    CLIMATE
