The white sand beach of Gulf Shores is yours to enjoy at Ocean Reef 8 801, a multi-level, beachfront condo with wonderful views of the Gulf of Mexico.


After a day spent down on the beach (which is accessed via an outdoor staircase from the deck), you can come home to relax in central air conditioning, use the free WiFi to share a few photos, or sit outside on the deck to swap stories of your adventures. Inside, you'll have a full kitchen, ample space to dine at the breakfast bar and the six-person table, and a gulf-front living room with a flatscreen TV for your evening entertainment.


Ocean Reef is a beachfront complex with an outdoor swimming pool and a sundeck where you can lounge in the shade of swaying palm trees. In this wonderfully central part of Gulf Shores, you'll be an easy walk from popular restaurants, eateries, bars, and ice cream parlors, and just over a mile west of Gulf State Park. Gulf Shores Parkway - the thoroughfare that's home to Waterville USA and dozens of other activities and attractions - is only half a mile east as well.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

Family Beach Trip

Great location and walking access to beach. Great view, 2nd level queen bed can use update mattress. Perfect for a family trip. We would stay here again.

If you want a great location this place is it.

This property has been partially updated. I would recommend new beds. Bedding was minimal, I would recommend blankets. The bathroom shower off the master bedroom needs cleaning up. I would recommend running cleaner and wiping the wash machine as well as having a broom available with a dust pan to help keep sand cleaned up. Better yet a hose at the top of the steps instead of a bucket of water to rinse your feet. The pool area has bugs on the deck and chairs both times I went. Pay attention to detail such as having matching and nice throw rugs in the bathroom. With a little time and attention this could be an awesome place!

Great location / view

Clean, centralized location with great beach access. All the amenities anyone needs are in the house. Updated appliances, nice beds and couch!

Great Location

Myself and 5 friends stayed for 6 nights. We had plenty of beds and space. Everything was clean inside but the front balcony and chairs were pretty dirty. Had to wipe the chairs out and clean the table. The location is awesome. Several restaurants and shops are in easy walking distance. The beach access doesn’t get any better! Kitchen is nice with newer appliances. It’s not very well stocked for those who want to cook. All that said, we had a great time and would recommend staying here. The pool area is nice also.

Summer Vacation 2023

The location of Ocean Reef and the size of the condo was great! The cleanliness was not good. Bring your own blankets because the bead spreads are paper thin and there are no extra bed linens. The back stairs from our balcony to the beach were closed and not useable until the last two days of our stay. They were being replaced. Also, the dryer has to go through 5 drying cycles to get a load of clothes dried.The shower door in the master bath doesn’t work and comes off of the track. All bathrooms have mold in the shower tracks. None of the lights above the bar work. The carpet on the stairs need to be replaced. It was absolutely filthy. Despite all of the issues, the beach was beautiful!

Renter beware

Vacasa is by far the worst property management group I’ve dealt with in all my years of vacationing at Ocean Reef! Customer service is absolutely horrible, they are polite but horrible to deal with and will ignore issues even when they promise to address things and call you back. As far as the rental, it’s roomy & ocean front which is nice. Beds are ancient and noisy so if you’re a light sleeper every movement will keep you awake at night. The beds basically have two top sheets on them with no blankets in the entire condo. Dishwasher didn’t work the entire trip & carpet on the stairs was loose resulting in two people in my group tripping, thankfully no one was hurt. I will not rent this condo again as it was or least favorite of any we stayed at & I will avoid any that Vacasa has listed.

Looks are deceiving

Online it looks great but in person not so great. The 2 rooms with carpet smelled bad. Dryer doesn’t work. Dishwasher is disgusting. Mattresses and box springs are nasty.

Great location, dated and no dryer

This is the second time staying at this complex, first time in this unit. It’s a great location. The day we arrived, we discovered the dryer not working. I sent a message to the host, along with another small issue with a bed. I received no reply and called Vacasa the next afternoon about the issues. A repair person was out for the bed that evening and informed me that the request for the dryer was submitted and that someone should be out to look at it. No one came and their was no communication from the host. Having heard nothing, I called Vacasa again a day or so later to express my displeasure in not being able to use a dryer that was listed as being on property. I was able to locate a review from around May 8th or so on VRBO, that indicated a dryer issue. We stayed in the unit June 7-18. In later conversation with Vacasa, the operator indicated that this was an ongoing issue and that the repair company was waiting on a part. I informed her that an email or phone call prior to our reservation would have been nice and would have allowed us to prepare for the inconvenience of not being able to dry clothes, towels, bathing suits etc… for 6 people. A day or two before we left I received a message from the host that a repair person was coming out that evening. He did not arrive until after 5pm. He said he was not aware of previous repair requests. He literally took the dryer apart and replaced several parts and could not fix the dryer. He was there close to 2.5 hours. We appreciated his help, as late in our stay it was. He said he had to label it as in-repairable. All in all our stay was great, very disappointed in communication. I’ve had to contact hosts before and was satisfied in their response time and to the help they gave to my requests. There was no communication from this unit host, unless it was me to Vacasa and it was not to the local host. We did receive a small refund for our inconvenience, which was not what I was hoping for, but I was beyond frustrated and ready to move on.

Right on the beach

WE have stayed in this condo facility before and wanted to be right on the beach this year. Perfect location to walk to restaurants and shops. LOVED being able to walk right off the deck and on to the beach. I wish the check in process wouldve been a little easier. I emailed multiple times about potential early check in and no one ever responded. I finally called the day off and it was a huge hassle to check in 15 minutes early. We drove in from out of state and got in early so were hoping to check in early.

Needs updating

Two good things, great cable and view of the ocean then it goes down hill. Carpet on stairs needs replacing, one sink and one shower drain backs up, had to purchase an iron, finally got washer to work but dryer didn't run. Kitchen needs to be better equipped. Rotten wood on corner support post, sheet rock in condo needs to be finished and painted. Second bedroom has severe odor and beds are very uncomfortable.

Favorite place we've ever stayed

We have stayed many places over the years in different parts of the country. We loved this area, it's clean, friendly, and perfect. It's all the best parts of Florida without the bad. But the best part was this condo. It's perfect for families. I can't think of one thing I didn't like about it. It was perfect. We will be back to visit this great underrated state and when we do, we will stay here.
