"We stayed at Kaya Villa in April 2015. Kaya Villa is a stand-alone cottage in Miyama village about 30 km northwest of Kyoto. Property manager picked us up at the local train station (Sonobe) and, at our request, stopped by the supermarket on the way there because we wanted to cook our own meals (there's no room service or restaurant in the village!). "Stayed twice in 2018 and 2026. Both times, the staff were warm and helpful. The bathing facilities are clean and well-stocked with amenities. The outdoor bath/ rotemburo is beautifully landscaped. In 2026, the upgraded facilities were modern and elegant. Lounge featuring refreshing beverages was relaxing. New beautiful yukata and slipper sets, including children’s sizes. Happy hour and nightcap in lobby with free drinks, snacks, beer, wine, sake, spirits. Breakfast: nicely features local specialties Transportation: free shuttle bus to Nagahama eki/station. Love the thoughtful amenities: family-friendly baby cribs, tray carts for seniors"
