"The lobby of the hotel is very nice with a decent restaurant and bar. The location is excellent as it's right in the heart of downtown Monterey and a short walk to Cannery Row. My biggest complaint is that the beds and the pillows are not very good."

"Hard to even state how horrible this stat was. I understand this is considered a historic hotel, but there were absolutely no amenities. No heat (radiators did not work), no elevators, no refrigerator (although a teeny tiny, old one was brought to the room on request. The staff was rude and disengaged. The room was crammed with old, dilapidated furniture such that one could barely use the closet. The room was so small, there was no place for your luggage. But the worst part was the room was above the patio of the hotel’s event room. We checked in at 4 and it was so noisy that we immediately left the room. We came back at 9:30 pm pm and the drunken festivities were still raging and continued until after 11:00 pm. Steer clear of this dump!!"

"Had a great time with .our family. Some great additions have been made since our last visit there. The Dining room is awesome with wonderful views of the Ocean and beach T.hey could still use a safety bar in the showers since some are over tubs. ( Just a suggestion). We hope to stay there again!!!!! Pat"

"Awesome property in a magnificent location. Very clean, great instructions, super easy. if you are looking for something near Pebble Beach you can't do much better. You can walk to the Lone Cypress in under a minute. The property is very clean and obviously well-maintained. Perfect stay. We would definitely return."
