The house was very beautifully renovated. The room was clean and spacious. Rachel was kind and very friendly. Fresh pastries, coffee and tea were ready every morning and the delicious smell filled the house, best wake up call!

The room was great and our host was most accommodating
The property is lovely. But it is like living in a museum .
The hostess didn’t inform of any amenities and there was NO breakfast
The location was convenient to the entrance to belle isle which is worth the trip. Don’t arrive before 3pm as locked and no one there
We spent five wonderful nights at the Frederick Stearns Historic Inn. The owner and host, Rachel Mitchell, was largely responsible, first in saving and renovating this 124 year old mansion and treating us like family.
We arrived two hours early to find no electricity in the house or the neighborhood due to a tornado the previous day. Rachel invited us in and offered wine. To our surprise she agreed to offer a refund if we desired. Fortunately, the electricity returned in a few hours otherwise we would have missed a wonderful experience.
The house restoration was superbly done giving us a realistic sense of early 20th century luxury living. The walls and doors are of a thickness and weight that we never heard a sound from elsewhere in the house.
Each breakfast was deliciously prepared with Rachel asking for our preferences beforehand. Her recommendations for restaurants were spot-on.
We look forward to our return visit.
The room was beautiful, spacious and spotless. Check-in was easy and the inn is conveniently located just a short distance from excellent dining options. We will be back.

Room was spotless and comfortable. We appreciated the history of the Inn and enjoyed talking with the owner. Easy to find and was a nice one night stay.
Beautifully restored building. Loved the care and effort they put into making this inn what it is today. So much attention to detail. Great location. Wish our stay was longer. Would Definitely stay here again.
Beautifully restored historic home with amazing attention to detail. We stayed in the Astor room. Very comfortable bed and room was perfect. Close to the Ford house which we toured. Owners are very welcoming and passionate about their B&B and made our experience a great memory! Thank you!
We had a fabulous stay! The room was spacious, bed and pillows were comfortable. The host was extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast of coffee and pastries was generous and delicious. Would stay there again!
This is an older home that has been beautifully restored. Every detail was attended to. The owner gave us a tour and history of the house. We will definitely come back again.
My fiancé and I recently stayed at this property and truly enjoyed many aspects of our visit. The property itself is absolutely gorgeous and our room exceeded our expectations-especially the bathroom, which was one of the highlights of our stay. Based on that experience alone, we were genuinely excited about returning in the near future. However, shortly after our stay, we were unexpectedly charged $300 for “missing bathrobes” that were never in our room in the first place. Although the charge was refunded the interaction was uncomfortable and lacked an apology leaving me feeling like my honesty was questioned. Overall, this is a lovely property with real potential to deliver a great guest experience, unfortunately how situations like this are handled matters just as much as the stay itself. I hope the management will reflect on this and approach future guest concerns with a more open and respectful mindset.
My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay at the Frederick Stearns house. The house was gorgeous, and we loved learning from the owner the history of the home and the work they put in restoring it. The room was quiet, clean and relaxing, and the coffee and fresh baked pastries in the morning were wonderful! Would highly recommend this stay to anyone that appreciates history, along with the comfort of a luxury hotel!
Great location in Indian Village area. Beautiful restored 1903 mansion of 16,000 square feet. exquisitely furnished with period furniture and paintings. Close to rverything Detroit had to offer. We stayed two nights and will definitely be coming back. Rachel was such a great host and proudly gave my wife and I a tour of the house. We loved every minute of our stay. Large and comfortable room with a super comfortable bed. You’ll love this one of a kind bed and breakfast.
Very inviting owners. The entire property has been meticulously re-assembled. Not to "original" but to a perfect mix of modern comforts with amazing charm. I would recommend this House, and already have recommend this house. It was absolutely perfect.
This was such a gorgeous place! Just beautiful! The owner checked us in and gave us a little tour. We stayed in the Zinnia room. I thought the bed was very comfy. It had Netflix set up on the tv. The fireplace in our room didn’t work though.
Had a wonderful stay at the Frederick Stearns property. The owners Eric & Rachel went above & beyond to make our stay perfect! They gave us a tour of the lovely historic home & even made special mimosas for us for our anniversary during breakfast which was delicious. Our room was very comfortable & large. While sitting in our room (Aster) I did notice quite a bit of dust under the bed which could possibly cause issues for those with allergies. Other than that, the room & home were spotless! I definitely highly recommend a stay at this beautiful property.
My wife and I and another couple spent two nights at the Frederic Stearns House and found it to be excellent. Spacious, clean rooms and an inviting ambiance. The historic nature of the Home added to a wonderful experience. Our host, Rachel, was gracious, most helpful, and we loved her cookies. If there is a higher rating than 5 stars, Rachel and the Frederic Stearns House deserve it. Highly recommended.
