I had a wonderful, and far too brief, stay here! The location is off the beaten path, but the views are fantastic. Had the weather cooperated, it would be perfect for Northern Lights! We had a great stay at this beautiful house! It allowed to do a day trip to the Snaefellsnes peninsula which was lovely. The house has tons of space (and a hot tub) and my family really enjoyed staying here.

The BEST experience we had during our stay. The northern lights were beyond incredible. This was exactly what we were hoping for and it did not disappoint. The view was incredible. Front desk gentleman was very welcoming. Breakfast was great and in a quiet setting. The Aurora Cabin was just an unforgettable experience!!!!

We had a great stay at this property! The room was clean and comfortable, and the ocean view made the experience even better. The kitchen was convenient to have, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, it was a relaxing place to stay and a great base for exploring the area. I would recommend it to other travelers looking for a comfortable stay with a beautiful view.

The only thing I did not like was the church bell across the street that rings every 15 minutes, but the hotel provides ear plugs. They were a great help.

The owner and staff were very accommodating and extremely helpful. They also went out of their way to make sure any questions we had were answered. Parking was free, great complimentary breakfast. Property is about a 40 minute drive from the airport, 15 min walk from the center of town. They really care about their business here. Support local small businesses. They truly care.

I had the most enjoyable stay at Eyja Guldsmeden! A very clean hotel with excellent service! The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the location of the hotel is very convenient. Special thanks to Laura who was super nice and helpful with dining recommendations! Will be back!

Just wanted to say the staff here made our trip memorable. The breakfast was fantastic. Prior to arriving I let the staff know we would be arriving early due to a early flight and needed to freshen up due to me proposing. They made the accommodation. The property was beautiful. Updated, and the staff is very friendly. There was no parking, so that got a little pricey if you wanted to park close to the hotel, but I think that’s the norm in Reykjavík. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone coming to Iceland.

We stayed for only one night, but this is one of our favorite hotels. First of all, we are family of 5 and stayed in the family room. It is more than enough to accommodate six people comfortably. The hotel is also extremely well maintained and very clean. It is directly across the street from a grocery store. We stayed here for 1 night. We reached a bit after dark and it was our first night in Iceland. The guy at the reception did not understand much English. It was very dark as there is no light pollution. It would have been helpful if he had come with us to show the room, as we had to cross a little bridge after parking our car and we were fumbling in the dark. I’ve stayed here three times over the past 10 years. Most recently in October 2026. The property is very well maintained and looks the same as it did 10 years ago. If I am going to West Iceland I always stay at the Fossatun hotel. It’s also a great place to see the aurora.
