"Perfect for couples. It was quiet with beautiful surroundings. We took a walk to the river from the castle, and it was quiet as though we had the whole grounds to ourselves. The food was delicious and the room was cozy with a spacious bathroom. We were lucky as there was a wedding on and as a result, we were treated to a nighttime fireworks display! For us a 10/10. But be mindful that there is no AC in the room - that didn't bother us but might be an issue for others. Also note it's worth...

"Good (cheap) location. Comfortable bed. Flooring in room had cracked making it look a bit shabby. Book breakfast online but pointless doing so, as still had to pay, went to breakfast and got locked out of our room after. Bit of bacon on the floor which just stayed there. Buffet a bit untidy, cereal everywhere. Appreciate it’s a busy day but no real excuse. Have stayed before a few times now. Normally good/ v good, today just okay"

"The location is excellent with easy access to riverside restaurants and transport hubs. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was really good with a lovely view of Keel Square. Breakfast was OK but overcrowded on three occasions."

"Lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds. Flower borders were just lovely! Room (twin deluxe) was spacious, comfortable and clean. One note, we were in room 216 which had view over cafe at back, which was really pretty so not a problem. However, deliveries started unloading at 6am in the morning which wasn't great. The hotel is so close to Beamish working museum, very handy. Few good pubs in the area too."
