"This is a hotel of opposites. Great location in stone town but down a dark alley you can’t quite drive to the door. Helpful reception but we’d booked 3 rooms and they initially gave us 2. Lovely clean spacious rooms but others with no view or very noisy. Wonderful old character but random electrical sockets - could only have the (empty) fridge OR the kettle OR the light plugged in. "We enjoyed our 2 night stay at Al Minar. Good value for money, located close to all the 5 star hotels, but this one is affordable. Especially the family room which fitted us nicely."
