"We enjoyed our stay! The hosts were fantastic and the amenities were as described. The area is very private and quiet, we didn’t mind the occasional barking from kennel when we walked by, or when the pigs tried to wander in. Morning sunrises on the property was a highlight of ours and we enjoyed meeting dog Elvis. Our stay was very comfortable, anything we needed the hosts were happy to provide. We’ll be back! "We were there Jan14-17 2026. It’s an older home tucked into a quiet neighborhood about 25 miles north of Hilo—so it’s a bit remote if that matters to you. We loved the location and neighborhood. As someone else mentioned, the interior has a cozy “Maine cabin” feel, but it’s nice and clean, with amenities as advertised. "We arrived to a pool that was dirty and had dead frogs in it and a dead Jackson chameleon jammed in between the screen which had been there long enough to develop maggots. Ever stay in a a lot of dollar a night VRBO who had no back up toilet paper and no coffee, tea, or even a filter this is your place. "Positives: Close to activities we were interested in (waterfall hikes, lava tube exploring, horseback tour, etc). Well-appointed with furnishings, kitchen appliances, BBQ utensils, and the like. Did not want for such items! Mostly private setting with orchard behind house. Improvements: Bedroom windows did not lock, but were elevated well above ground level.
