"Suitable for children"

"Our stay at Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa was memorable, thanks in large part to Mr. Peter, the resort driver. He was waiting for us when we arrived at the Mombasa train terminal and immediately made us feel welcome. He was extremely friendly, taught us a little Swahili, and shared interesting facts about Mombasa’s history as we drove past various locations on the way to the resort. If possible, request Mr. Peter as your driver—he is the best! We also loved dining at Thai-Ci and we ate...

"All was amazing"

"Terrible experience. Staff was unhelpful. Requests were ignored. Ordering a gin and tonic at the bar meant 2 shots of gin in a glass since they ran out of tonic water. Had to ask for ice. Had to mix my own drinks. Drinks took over 60 minutes to be delivered. Any food off the menu took 2 hours to make. This was truly the worst hotel staff. Avoid at all costs."

"Bis zum Tag der Abreise war alles Bestens. Check out ist schon um 10 Uhr, ab da gilt auch das All Inclusive nicht mehr. Ausser Wasser muss man dann an dem Tag bis zum Flughafen Transfer alles sehr teuer bezahlen. So etwas haben wir vorher noch nie erlebt und wir reisen sehr viel in allen Teilen der Welt"

"Great stuff, location and amenities"

"I wanted my statement to show I was charged $3900 shillings for the breakfast on 10/15/26. They were unable to do this. I needed this for travel reimbursement purposes. It would be nice if they could exchange shillings for USD."

"Lovely hotel in upscale Gigiri, great for families. Our kids loved it, especially the breakfast buffet and the swimming pool. We are definitely coming back."

"The lush greenery around the property is appealing. However, there was confusion over the reservation, which took a while to sort out. Gaining access to the room, we discovered there were no towels. It took us three calls to reception and an hour and a half wait before receiving the towels."

"I have stayed at the Serena several times over the past 20 years. In fact, of the 80 countries I have visited the Serena in Mombasa is still my favorite place in the world. The staff, including front dest staff (namely, Althuman) and the wait staff are outstanding. Many are long-term staff who have obviously been well-trained in customer service. The Maisha Spa is always worth a visit. The property is beginning to show signs of aging so I hope there are plans to upgrade it, while not loosing its...

"Staff was unhelpful and unresponsive to requests for assistance."
