"We loved everything about the room except for tiny little ants in the kitchen area but honestly that is not unusual in Hawaii. The Orchid Room (Room 6) was stunning. The bathroom and koi pond were really well done. Loved using the jacuzzi tub as the Kona rain storm started ramping up. We lost power a few times and had to pack up by flashlight in the morning but totally understand as it was a very strong storm -- strong enough to close the national park later that day. "This is a very nice lodge with a great history. The room was spacious and we really enjoyed the hot tub and the nature trail. My only complaint is with the people in the room beneath us as we heard them talking well past the quiet hour of 10:00 pm. As the inn has no night manager, I was required to deal with it myself by talking to them directly. Not sure if the insulation between the rooms is adequate. We did hear other neighbors as well but they respected the quiet hours. "

"Nice rustic place. We normally stay in 4 and 5 * hotels and this was not that but it was a cool little spot for what the town is. It’s remote with not a lot of choices. The room was clean and if we can’t get a room in the park again when we’re there next, we will try to stay here again. "

"It was no contact with the staff after 6pm, I texted the staff around 5:40pm because there was no coffee at all in the room, but she never responded, so we left early next morning. $425 a day for that small bungalow room without any service was how much very expensive. When we arrived around 4:30pm and we were waiting with another couple to check in but there was no staff in the check-in area."

"This lovely secluded rain forest cabin is wonderfully private, very close to the park, and the owners are extremely responsive (by text). They provide coffee and bottled water (although the filtered rain water is fine too). Note that it’s a pretty big place so takes a bit to warm up on cold wet days, but worth it!"

"What a wonderful place to stay. These yurts are easily the best-appointed VRBOs I’ve ever stayed in. The little touches to make it comfortable and help out if you forgot something are great! The yurts are very clean and comfortable. The host was friendly and helpful from start to finish. He even gave us a calendar of Hawaii as a parting gift. Really great place. I highly recommend it!"
