The room was spacious, easy to use, and much cleaner than some reviews led us to expect, despite showing some age. Most of the younger staff (especially the gift shop staff) were very polite and helpful. "Nice video of the castle from the room we stayed. Great breakfast buffet. Easy walk from the train station."

"Great location, walking distance to the shore and attractions. Walking distance to the hills, botanical garden. Great service, hellful staff. Superb breakfast buffet."

"Loved our stay at the hotel Monterey! The room was very comfortable and clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. The location is extremely convenient in that it is right next door to the train station and in the most popular shopping area, yet noise was not a problem at all. Would highly recommend this hotel!"

"A hotel that's a little past it's prime - the hallways were really dirty that didn't seem to be any air conditioning in the room, just a knob that didn't seem to do anything, and they charged for the swimming!"

"Breakfast was great."
