"Very disappointed with our stay at The Grand. I’ve never left a negative review about a hotel before but I feel compelled to, particularly because the reply I gave directly to their own request for feedback has gone ignored. I booked two rooms; one for my Mum on her own and one for myself and my 8 year old daughter. I stay in about 20 different hotels a year and am fortunate to stay in some beautiful places but The Grand fell short for 5 stars. I would say this is no reflection on the team,...

"Great location, great service and all services you would expect. Bar and restaurant were well serviced with a variety of food and beverages at reasonable prices. Only slight point is that parking was expensive but similar to other locations in York."

"Very helpful and friendly owners, great location for visiting our new granddaughter. 2 mins walk to lovely Pearsons park. Some lovely welcoming items, lots of fresh fruit, bread, butter, milk and cake all vegan as owners are, a couple of things i would suggest is maybe a door curtain could be put in place as there was no privacy going from the bathroom across the kitchen to the bedroom also there was no smoke alarm present. All in all a nice stay 👍 "

"A great one night experience! Very original and nicely located hotel. Check in was great thanks to their magic! The room we were in was extremely hot with 3-4 fans at max power so noisy. One night at this hotel was perfect."

"Room was clean and tidy, we were upgraded which was lovely. We had a river view but because of the trees, the view wasn’t as good as we hoped. However, we weren’t there to look at the view for long! Kitchen area had everything if needed, aircon was great for the heat and bathroom was good. Only downside, wardrobe was tiny and no drawers to unpack much! Hotel is ideally situated for walking into York. Just a short walk and you are in the main area. Coffee/tea in the reception all day long...

No air con and to cool down the windows needed to remain open, making the room noisy from the street. Overall it looked like it needed an update on the inside. Very helpful, friendly staff and the location was very good."
